I have to agree with rarehero. I love my GBA system, but nothing is better than an SNK console! Come on, SNK -- bring back the NGPC so we can enjoy domestic releases again!

Yayy!!! SNK's not dead yet (I knew it all along). The Neo is still going after all these years, how amazing is that??

Things are really looking up, especially if this Metal Slug 3 AES re-release works out... and MOTW going to DC, and re-released Pocket games...

Thank God I'm a Neo*Geo freak!

I own a NGPC and I think it's great, but there is almost NO chance of seeing it succeed in the US. I've read inmore than one place that only 80,000 units were sold here.
That's practically NOTHING.

A couple more games would be great, but for SNK to try to push the Pocket here would be INSANE, especially in this critical day. SNK's push of the Pocket and the resulting failure was much of the reason for the huge debt!

I think the NGPC would have been more successful if it was actually pushed as a DC device...

Since the DC and NGPC could be connected together to share game data and unlock secrets, SNK should have pushed MUCH HARDER on this. There could have easily been a sequal to the Samurai Shodown RPG that was for the DC, with a totally seperate adventure based on a bunch of side quests for the NGPC. Link the two together, and you uncover more secrets and more quests.

OR, they should have tried to make package deals with DC with certain games and systems. I'm certain most people would have bought a DC/NGPC Capcom vs. SNK package, which would have contained a Dreamcast with a new, sealed copy of Capcom vs. SNK, that also came with a NGPC, link cable and MOTM...

Or, if they wanted to keep the games strictly to SNK and Sega licenses, they could have done special Sonic and/or KOF packages.

At least, this is how I would have approached the NGPC after realizing that it wasn't selling a lot of units on its own. The DC and the NGPC were both going through some hard times on the console wars, so they should have teamed up together for some cross platform and system linkable titles. Both systems would have sold more in the process.

I'm pretty excited to hear this, but with my luck SNK is also some sort of furniture company or something that is returning to the US.

Remember there was the Sonic bundle, but even that wasn't enough to save the Pocket. Has anyone played the NGPC Sonic? It's been awhile since I've played a Sonic game, but I did like Sonic 1 and 2 for Genesis.

Yeah its fun (Sonic), but it is a little bit short and easy to complete.

I remember the Sonic Bundle...
Actually, right before I actually bought my NGPC, I remember seeing two people playing Sonic on their NGPC linked together on the train. For one brief moment, I thought that SNK would finally start to get some recognition in the US.

The Sonic bundle was a good idea, but they still treated it as a separate entity and machine. I'm not sure if the NGPC Sonic could be linked to a DC Sonic title for extra gameplay (and vice versa) but that's something that should have been pushed as well.

My idea was to treat the NGPC as a DC device, made by SNK. I think if marketing by both Sega and SNK in the US to push that concept it would have done more and had a better shelf life. The NGPC could have doubled as a DC VMU as well as a game system, which would have been kick ass. Then, you could have sold a $200 bundle system that came with a DC and a NGPC.

An ideal Sonic Package would have been the DC with the Sonic Game, packaged with a NGPC with its Sonic game. With the whole knowlege that the games would have been cross compatible, plus special games exclusive for the NGPC, a bundle like this would have sold easily.

Magical Drop was by Data East, so are you telling me that SNK actually made it (the GameBoy port, that is)? And I believe their KoF GameBoy ports were by Takara, along with some others.

edit: clarified something
