SOL... Or sold on line, think it's gotta be innit.

I'm not against porn but it's not Belladonna is it ?
They lock threads on this issue on the forum... That I dunno why.

They had a thread on their forums about the porn adds in the back of the magazine. A couple of members complained about the adds and some other people say their needed because they pay for the space in the magazine.

I find it funny I'm sitting down reading a magazine all about classic video games and then at the end of the magazine all you get is British phone sex lines.

I know, it sounds like bollocks ( :multi_co: ) to me. I think they even addressed it in the mag itself once, basically saying "we can't stop it, blame our publisher". Again, I don't know the details on their particular situation, but on its face it sounds a bit fishy/lazy to me --but I see it as the same sort of inherent state of mind that leads to the chronic problem with international distribution.

I don't see what the big deal is.

This mag is never going to go mainstream, so it's hard to imagine that the ads in the back are going to cause some sort of public outcry.

These kind of magazines rarely last long, and if some softcore porn ads in the back help them stay afloat, then I say go for it.

I dont like them either.... But if the money they get for the ads keeps them going then I'm all for it.

Borders still has issue 34 on the shelves here in Boston.

I'll check in again in the next couple weeks to see if 35 shows up.

Yeah when I went too the Borders in Boston they had issue 34. Barns and Noble has it too.

It's a good mag.

John Szczepaniak redeems himself after the Last Hope business with the hella cool gaming illuminati 2 part feature... That was his magnum opus before leaving the mag.
Issue 34 you should pick up just to read the 1st part plus SNK/Atari's Mirai system gets a mention along with the Euro Kizuna.

And at last John "Balrog" Wilson gets an 8 page Zenobi special this month then :buttrock:

You can download quite a few Zenobi titles for free from John's site, you will need a spectrum emulator such as http://www.spectaculator.com/ or better still buy the Zenobi CD for a few paypal bucks.

Links:
www.zenobi.co.uk main site.
http://sthelens-connect.net/zenobi/index.php?PHPSESSID=0ef2d9054b860c09c9e6c70a471c86ff& free downloads and forum.

Oh and if by chance anyone knows this elusive Mr. ASSEMbler...
I'm after a mint boxed Sony Yaroze :D

yeah, gaming illuminati is awesome. some of the captions say "I bet you didnt even know this existed" and im like "yes I did, i have bid on most of those items:lolz: "

I actually took issue with that article because it consisted nothing other than sucking sounds. It was more of a press release than a review (it wasn't even properly reviewed like their otherwise respectable review section). With that said, I still think the mag is overall awesome.

Mmm... They kind of shut you down if this is addressed.
Towing the publisher line I think...

It is a decent read tho @ Galfordo.
The online site opened not so long back now, it's more cost effective for IP
to promo online sales for international distribution no doubt.

I can't understand why Darren an co have to deal those
adult ads... The mag is more popular now than ever.

Brings the pennies home yeah but agreed it does degrade it somewhat.

then again, you have to see that if that's the only funding that they get to publish the mag. It's worth it. I mean, until they get better sponsors, I think if that's what it takes to keep this publication from going under, I think it's a safe bet.

Other than that, The KoF article, i was a bit dissappointed I thought they would talk about the game engine, the popularity around the world, the players around the world, the combo videos, tournaments, etc. But no, it was mainly storyline and generic engine evolution.

However, they had an awesome article on some holy grails of gaming. That was off the hook.

But so far, i really like the articles.
