I'd love to collect LP's, but at this point it's better for me to just download FLAC vinyl rips, 24bit/96KHz (or better) rips sound fantastic. I have a portable media player that can drive good headphones and play these lossless files fantastically.

OK, here are Some of my favorite albums in my collection. Don't pay attention to the clutter. I'm in the process of moving.

I spared you all the pictures of classic rock and folk. And also omitted my favorite Motown shit because I don't think many people would care to see it anyway.

The Del album I just bought because I like the cover. I'm going to frame it.

For what it's worth out of these. The must get albums if you are a fan of the genre are...

Funk = Roger Troutman: The many facets of Roger. He was also like myself from Dayton Ohio. But was murdered. If you like Tupac All Eyez on Me. Let it be known Roger Troutman made that shit what it was.

Folk = Beck: One Foot in the Grave - I know you might be thinking Beck is electronic/funk. But his early shit is all acoustic. This very well may be my favorite album of all time. And this release has many more songs.

Grunge = Until I get Alice n' Chains Unplugged, Nirvana Unplugged is the best. But Temple of the Dog and Mad Season are great albums.

Indie = It's a tossup between Vampire Weekend (their first album), and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. Actually I take that back. The Strokes: This Is It = the best of the indie bunch.

Punk = NOFX: I heard they suck live. Maybe the greatest punk album of all time.

Rap: Too hard to choose. Liquid Swords and Q-Tips: The Renaissance are up there. If you haven't heard those do yourself a favor.

Reggae = Obviously Bob Marley. But if you like DUB that King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown is excellent.

BRUH! You got some dope tunes man. That Del cover is dope as fuck, I'd frame it too.

damn, i don't remember, $60shipped? i'm actually not much of a fan, that LP is in fact my sisters' doings. she's a big GATCHAMAN fan, believe it or not.

we got her that album for her birthday, what? 5/6 years back? and she had me make a digital recording to CD, easy enough...

How's that Californication press? The original album is one of my favorites but is pretty much the poster child for badly mastered 90s CDs. Did they do anything to improve that for the vinyl rerelease?

IMO no or at least not much better. Tracks like Otherside and Parallel Universe are still horribly loud on vinyl.

really love the color of the vinyl, plus it comes with a sticker sheet and the cover folds out to a poster. they only made 500 of these apparently..

Does anyone here own the Galactic Melt album by Com Truise? Re-release, 2 orange LPs. It looks like there's some sort of "mold" effect (like old wet paper or cardboard) on the records and I'm not sure if its on purpose or not. Its not dirt or anything but actually pressed on the vinyl.

My buddy has it, I'll take a look next week when I head over there and let you know.

Also if guys like that King Tubbys record you need to get Scientist meets the Roots Radics, it's just as good if not better.

The only record I've bought recently is Aphex Twin's Syro, which has been on heavy repeat. Very good album imo, a lot more 'mature' than most of his work. This along with Autechre's Exai were a nice surprise from a 'genre' which I haven't paid much attention to for a while.

To the fellow with the Wu-Tang 36 Chambers record, I've heard the vinyl release is actually pretty mud quality? Any truth to this? Such a great album, and one I'd love to own on vinyl, but not if it's a bad master.

Also, gotta love Del and the protoculture :)

As for my discogs, it's at http://www.discogs.com/user/fluxcore/collection - however most of my collection is CD. I bought a bunch of vinyl when Ninja Tune started some of their VIP represses, but then I filled up my record storage space and have had to hold off a bit.

Music On Vinyl is shady. They re-released a Glassjaw album and never paid the band.
