Hi everyone.
I just bougt me a din and a minidin and I am about to solder a rgb lead for my Aes to the framemeister.

I have a question regarding the pinout from the Aes.

I use this one as my guide for the aes:

My question is, do I need to solder pin 3 (composite) and pin 7 (composite sync)?

I do only need rgb, but I was unsure if they are needed for some reason.

The pins I use in the framemeister is as follows:

In this side, there is a Csync pin, is it needed (pin 3)

regarding sound, Pin 1 and 2, I just put mono on both pins?

And the last question, what is +5v out (pin 4 on the Aes) needed for
/Johan

You can use either composite video or composite sync, but don't solder them together!

Personally, I would probably use composite sync from the Neo 8 pin din to the Framemeister 8 pin mini din.

You can just run the mono audio from the 8 pin din on the Neo to both pins on the framemeister if stereo isn't important. Otherwise you would need to run a cable around to the headphone connector on the front of the AES to get stereo audio.

In the case of the Framemeister, the 5v from the Neo (and other consoles) isn't needed at all. It's typically used on Euro Scart TVs to tell the TV to switch to that Scart input and to signal composite or RGB input (depending on voltage).

Mono audio makes me sad. I'd do one of the following:

A: Go ahead and make it dual mono for compatibility, but when actually being used run the audio separately to a receiver from the headphone jack

B: Add a cable that would run to the headphone jack into the stereo pins of your custom cable

C: Install a DIN 8 and run stereo to two of the extra pins.

Hi, excuse me for being a bit disorientated.
There is already an 8-pin din on Neo-geo.

If I want to run stereo out through the original Din-output.
what pins can be discarded, either pin 3 or 4.

I will only use it for rgb picturewise.

This is how I was going to do it.

Pin 1 - Mono audio (is it left channel??)
Pin 2 - ground
Pin 3 - This one unused, should I desolder or leave it there? (Composite video)
Pin 4 - This one unused, should I desolder or leave it there? (+5volt out)
Pin 5 - GREEN
Pin 6 - RED
Pin 7 - Composite sync
Pin 8 - Blue

Does it matter which one is used for right channel audio (pin 3 or 4)

D'oh, I was thinking of the Duo which only has a din 5 and you need to replace it to get RGB.

You don't need the 5v out with the Framemeister as long as you aren't using an adapter cable with a built in sync stripper, and you can ditch composite video if you are using composite sync. It doesn't matter where you put the audio pins since you are making your own custom cable.

So whatever happened with this? Did you have success making an adapter/cable to go from the AES to the Framemeister mini din? I'm considering making one as well.
