Puzzle Bobble Bootleg?

My parents got me a Puzzle Bobble for Christmas (yes I knew ahead of time, I peeked), and at the time I was convinced it was a bootleg but now I'm not so sure.

It looks nothing like the legit PB that I've got, but this other one does sort of look legit. It's on a PROG4096 + CHA32 which is strange in and of itself.

Chips are as follows:
C1: D27C4000D-15 windowed EPROM
C2: D27C4000D-15 windowed EPROM
C3: 006-C3 MB834200A no window, looks like mask ROM
C4: 006-C4 MB834200A no window, looks like mask ROM
M: NM27C010Q windowed EPROM
S1: D27C1000D-15 windowed EPROM
V1: D27C4000D-15 windowed EPROM
V2: D27C4000D-15 windowed EPROM
P1: D27C4000D-15 windowed EPROM

I mean, it fits all the tell-tale signs of being a bootleg but the quality is something higher than I've seen before. Could this be a proto or beta of some sort? I had cracked it open to see if I could convert it to something else, maybe Ghostlop?

The Mask ROM's came from a Riding Hero cart...so it might be a conversion bootleg.

Yes boot..Due to the amount of EPROMS IMO..

I've seen some really well done boots so it may be worth keeping if it works..
My EPROM PB boot works flawlessly/making it where I'm not even looking for an original anymore.

it's Puzzle Bobble - there's probably a 90% chance it's a boot anyhow, unless you get a guarantee from the seller it's legit.

I believe puzzle bobble may come withy many eproms. The only way to know for sure would be to post pics, but I'm a noob at this. Check the numbers on the masked roms and make sure it's a real SNK pcb.

A legit PB will have the PB chips, a couple of Power Spikes 2 chips and an EPROM.

I just cracked open a Bust-A-Move cart I got today and I have the following:

068 chips @ V1, V2, C1, C2, C3 & C4
D96 chips @ V3, V4, C5, C6 & S1
EPROM Labeled D96 @ EP1 & M1

The 068 chips are from Power Spikes 2, but I'm not sure what the D96 chips refer to since Puzzle Bobble's NGH# is 083. Mines probably a boot as well. Anyone verify? I didn't see in opening a new topic since this one is pretty new.

Witch, yours is most likely legit (as legit as any legit BAM is), most legit BAM carts are like that, just like superfami just explained.

Sounds about right. All the legit PB carts I've had/converted have had the EP1 as an EPROM.

Thanks guys. I guess I lucked out. I was just confused since the NGH numbers didn't match up with the master list.
