Portal 64 Github project suddenly gone

Word on the street is it was taken down due to concerns raised about the use of the official N64 Developer SDK which had and has significant legal licensing terms, yes even almost 30 years later.

Maybe it will get converted to an open source SDK. Very sad news still.

Damn that was a pretty interesting project, hopefully it isn’t too much for the dev to remove any problematic code/tools and move forward.

Well, technically that DMCA takedown notice at Github via that twitter post makes no mention of lambertjamesd but maybe there will be another notice posted.

Maybe Valve could be cool and have this be finished privately under their ownership so it can be a commercial product. Probably not though.

The old valve I think would totally do that. The valve of today? Who knows.

It's a shame, it was a really neat project. Although I'm sure it's still out there just gotta dig now.
