It's selling faster than the Wii U or 3DS did, by far. It's close to the Wii's numbers and the Wii launched in November rather than March.

The most "modern" console I own is a Playstation 2 and the most modern handheld I own is a DS Lite, thus, anything beyond their libraries, time-wise, I haven't experienced, so, I've missed out on a lot. I still stay in the "know" somewhat, via forums like ours, magazines (usually Game Informer) and such, but, I'm definitely behind the times.

Out of all the newer gaming franchises, the one series I'd like to play the most is Dark Souls.
