That would be you.

Now-now, brown cow. I don't consider suggesting all existing firearm bans be eliminated as taking a "highly regulated" stance...

It's more than Mr. Meller, it's plenty of people. It's like a whole culture of people that have spent the last 30-40 years talking about how "stupid" and violent Americans are. It gets annoying to travel sometimes and hear about that.

I really do not give a good god-damn what ignorant foreigners feel about US citizens. Have they been here? If so, have they actually traveled in this country outside of some shit-hole major US city?

It's all people really know about the US besides our movies, music, and products.

I really wanted to focus on that part right there...fist off, it's not what they know, it's what they think the know.

Second, our movies, music, and products are often not even close to how we really are. Case in point...I cannot count how times I've heard foreigners say they that they feel Americans have shitty attention spans because of how many commercials there are on our television. I'll kindly explain to them that we despise commercials, do not want them, do not ask for them and often take great lengths to skip them.

Have a massive world HQ of a global company in my back yard (Caterpillar)...I've dealt with foreigners for years. They come here (a US city of less than 250,000) and see what life in the US is really like...AKA, not Chicago, LA, New York, etc. I cannot count how many times I've hear that they are surprised that Americans are nothing like they thought we were. A vast majority of us are anti social, quiet, keep to ourselves type of people. It's the shit minority of citizens that are plastered in our media that give us all that "Loud mouthed, dumb, war mongering American" label.

I will say...we are as fat at they think we are. I have heard that plenty of times "God, you Americans really are fat..."

Actually, most major US cities aren't shit holes. Especially the ones that foreigners travel to (and doubly the parts they visit). Of course, you would have to spend a lot of time in such a city instead of watching about it on tv.

Although we have the most watched television event of the year and the next day, the thing people talk the most about was the advertisements.

Johnny foreigner here. I've been over to the US a couple of times and loved it. In fact the reason I take such an interest in these threads is I've wanted to move over to the US for a few years now but my family always bring up the gun situation like it should be a genuine consideration whereas I don't think it is.

Whether guns are banned, regulated, deregulated, in my mind they're still something that don't even need to be thought about on a daily basis unless you want to. No matter whichever way you paint it it's still statistically irrelevant.

I lift bits off here to use in my persuasion tactics. I generally don't relay the stuff Norton says :D - sorry dude, everyone has an agenda.

ONE thing... I have learnt from this thread...

...Norton just can't help himself:D

Muhahahahahahhahahaha!

PS. I LOVE analysing a situ... or thread... and this one states... that there are inherent differences to how people view and post in a thread like this...

For example... I view this thread as how the forum works... and have no real interest in the subject at hand...:p

Yet somehow the thought of you blasting away with a full auto rifle, shirtless, makes me giggle...and would probably make you giggle too. Full auto firearms are freaking fun to shoot.

There's always Canada. It's like America, but the people are nicer.

yeah, dude, most US cities are pretty safe.

There's areas you shouldn't go to after dark, but I think that's safe to say of most every country.

This.

My buddy married an illegal immigrant from Mexico. She is constantly talking about how great Mexico is, how she likes it better there, etc. I can always shut her up by asking her why she came here illegally then, and what's stopping her from going back.

If I ever met Tafsheen Malik, I'd just have to give her a classic Arnold quote:

"YOU'RE ONE, UGLY, MOTHER FUCKER."

But seriously, that is (was) one ugly bitch. You could hammer nails with that fucking nose. And somebody crossed an ocean for that? It's like some people never even heard of a strip club.

Some faggot on Al-Jazeera was complaining about other news outlets releasing pictures of her without her hijab on, I say she didn't cover her head enough even with the damn thing on...

Sometimes, it just boils down to shared interests.

Correct - but the rules are the thread can't finish until Smokes has mentioned riot insurance.

Would you expect anything less?

Foreigners think Americans eat their breakfast using a pistol as a spoon...Norton is a weird socialist/liberal combo, I spout off about the constitution, no one listens to each other...life goes on.

I consider threads like this a nice finger workout on the days when I have some free time...

You'd think the way some Americans pine and obsess over the Constitution, a document forged in the 18th century, taking every fine detail at face value is much similar to the way other fundamentalists of our current day and age obsess over an out of date writing just to fuel their own extreme wants.

Am I to assume you're not from the US then?

I'll just be honest here...initially, that comment pissed me off and I had some snarky response all ready to go...but I don't think that the best way to handle it (especially figuring you and I have never had a interweb-beef anyway).

I'll put it this way...America is America...like Germany is Germany, Italy is Italy, Russia is Russia, so on and so forth. If you make the comments you did, you really do not understand our culture, our beliefs and our way of life. By "our" I mean America's silent majority...

Just because a bunch of soft handed, big mouthed douchebag liberals, socialist, communists, "tea party nuts", etc, scumbags do the most bitching from the US via the media and internet...it doesn't mean that there isn't a mostly quiet, large mass of US citizens that still believe in the Constitution and what it was before centuries of politician shit bags went and fucked it all to hell.

If you want to insult anything...try insulting our current corrupt, bought and paid for political system, not our Constitutional rights. Have you read the Bill of Rights? If so, what part is so horribly antiquated about it? Freedom of speech? Freedom of religion? Right to bare arms? Rights against illegal search and seizure? Rights against excessive bail and cruel/unusual punishment? The right to a trial by jury? The laundry list of rights in the fifth? Due process? Which of these are "extreme wants"?

Seriously...

We live in a day and age where things absolutely need to be taken "to the fine detail". We currently line in a world where lawyers and politicians are constantly working to blur the lines of legality to suit their wants and needs...they are funded by the very rich and gigantic corporations of this world. We, as individuals, have very little voice in this. This is where something like the bill of rights is the best tool we have.

Nobody really gives a shit about the constitution. They just bring it out when they think it's convenient.
Have you read the Bill of Rights? If so, what part is so horribly antiquated about it? .

The part about "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state". That part is some Jeffersonian idealism that was turned on it's head in 1812.

You're talking about the war of 1812?
Because I'm not seeing how that turned the idea of a ready citizen militia on its head?

Wasn't that a stalemate? Status quo ante bellum?
