My review of MK: Deadly Alliance....

[Sticks]

Storyline: Liu Kang dies at the hands of Shang Tsung and Quan Chi and the Deadly Alliance begins. Raiden relinquishes his status as Elder God to fight as a mortal again and Outworld is in chaos as a war is brewing.

Good things:

+ New characters, of course; including Bo Rai Cho, the Drunken Master; Nitara, the Female Vampire; Kenshi, a blind swordsmen who is helping the Earth warriors; Frost, Sub-Zero's pupil; and Malvado, the rival of Kano and leader of the Red Dragons.
+ The return of "Test Your Might" Bonus Round
+ NO MORE PALETTE SWAPPING FOR ALL THOSE CAPCOM/SNK/NAMCO FANS WHO CONTINUED TO SAY MK SUX AND IS A PIECE OF CRAP!!! Scorpion looks more traditional Japanese, Sub-Zero is getting old, Reptile is now looks more like Lizard Man (from Soul Calibur) in a ninja suit, Cyrax looks a bit more human now.
+ A new fighting system where fighters can switch between different styles adjust to different fights. Styles range from Offensive to Defensive to Counter Based to pure grappling.
+ During the fight: clothes are torn, bruises appear and the opponents bleeds throughout the match.
+ You can bet in your fights.
+ Coin collect (by winning as many matches) can open coffins from the crypt to unlock mini games (such as pong and galaga), unlock secret characters, or unlock mini-movies (one confirmed movie is titled, "Cooking with Scorpion")
+Overall Graphics are awesome and you know who Ed Boon should thank, all you guys who think MK sucks because Boon listens you know. He does listen to fans you know.

Bad Things:

-The style switching system can get some getting used to. No more jump kick, jump kick, jump kick, fireball, fireball, uppercut cheese combo. Hey, Gamecombos.com, I dare to make a combo movie from this game!!!!
-Moloch the Oni Tormentor, is a cheap@$$. He is worse than Goro, Kintaro, and Motaro altogether.
-The main boss is either Shang Tsung OR Quan Chi. Don't give me that trade off crap. I take on both of them at the same time in an endurance match!!!!

Nice review, but you are dead wrong about Moloch. All you need is a 20%+ damage combo that you can hit every time and you will win most matches -- his attacks don't do over 10%, so he can be owned with high damage. Kintaro was so godly that without Kitana, you'd be lucky to win 1 match in 20.

As far as the new chars go, Blind Kenshi is the best new character design I've seen in any video game since Whip. His neutral pose where he stares straight ahead is great, and Test Your Sight is funny as hell with him because he tries desperately to listen to what is going on.

Actually, Johnathan Tobias is no longer with the MK Team. Midway booted his @$$ out of the company during production of MK: Special Force. The ideas Boon had in that game were cool, too bad they weren't used. Everyone thought MK was dead because Tobias was no longer part of the MK Team, actually many members of the MK Team were gone. Fortunately, Dan "Toasty" Forden took the role of MK Storyteller and a new age of MK was born.

For anyone that cares, Best Buy is offering a free $10 gift card with the purchase of MK: DA for XBox (and probably for the other two systems as well, not sure about that though) through Saturday 11/23. That really makes it only $40, instead of $50, not bad (although you get the gift card to use later).

I picked it up, and from what I can see its GREAT so far, the three different fighting "styles" per character are very cool, graphics are nice (although I KNOW Soul Calibur 2 will be better), music and stages are cool, characters look great. Haven't had enough time for an in-depth look yet though, just practice mode so far.

Best Buy should be open later too, the one near me is open until 10PM instead of 9PM, through Christmas (on Friday and Saturday nights only right now, other weeknights are 9PM as usual). If you're thinking about getting MK: DA, you might want to get it now at BB with the gift card!

Heh, i just bought the game.Its pretty good.Never thought i would say that about a MK game.I like the athmosphere.Some of the combos are cool especially the ones involving switching to a weapon in a middle of a combo.Now there are tons of blood.You can even see your opponent bleeding after a sword attack.Looks impressive.The backgrounds are cool.

Looks like MK is here to stay.

Don't underestimate what Boon and the MK crew can do. It took them almost 3 years to plan this thing out. So, MK Haters should quit dissing on them. They don't want to be Soul Calibur, Tekken, or whatever. Also, the crew loves listening to fans.
