I have read alot of praise and alot of hate for the final mission of Metal Slug 3. Personally i think it is great. It is very long .... like 3-4 levels in length. What gets me though is how well Metal Slug's take on the overhead shooter really is. I mean, they throw that into the middle of the level, and it is tons of fun. Admittedly it is not very hard but it can be challenging.
A word on dificulty though. It is very doable to 1cc up to the final space ship, after that though ......... the game just gets tough. Silly tough at times. Even so though, i still feel this level is the best Metal Slug has to offer, it is epic in its scope and challenge.
