I played both at a friends house, didnt really notice much of a difference cause im not a die hard kof fan, although have been playing them on and off for a few years. which one should i get, as they both seem pretty similiar, yet people seem to always be arguing for one or the other. any help much appreciated.

I'd go with 2k1. They're both great games, but 2k1 plays a bit better. Still, 2k is cheaper so that's certainly a plus. You really can't go wrong with a kof game.

KoF'98 is better than those 2 games. But if I were to choose, get 2k. KoF2k is much funner than 2k1. I own 2k and 2k1 on the AES and it's pretty damn sad that '98 is in the Neo*Geo for a straight 3 weeks and hasn't left since. Maybe I'll change it to 2k tonight.

But if I had to decide between KoF2K and KoF2K1...

Mainly because I own 2K and can say for sure that it rocks and has some deep gameplay...
Although many say that the strikers are just lame I think the combos you can make with 'em are just too cool !
But I have to admit that I haven't played 2K1 yet so I can't tell much about it.
All I know is that there are MUCH more infinities and that the Music suxx big ASS

Hmm, well get kof2k1. IMO, it's very good game. Not as good as Kof 98 but still good. I love May Lee she is very good but hard to learn. But KoF2k is definitly reccomended if you don't want a challange and u just wanna mess around....

KoF 98 ids one of my fav actually. You may wanna get that. KoF99 is the WORST FIGHTING GAME IVE EVER PLAYED!!! Do not get it if your ;ife depends on it! 2000 is still good though. I just think it was too easy. Endboss Zero was easy. At least 2k1's suboss is harder than the final boss of 2k. And Igniz the final boss in 2k1 is CRAZY!

What is so good about kof99? Other than the final boss Krizalid who I liked nuttin much was really good. Kyo was really toned down. His serpant Wave takes sooo long to hit. Iori isn't bad but his god damn Deadly Flower is SOOO SLOW!!! I've seen worse situations with characters but the storyline is decent I suppose....

I don't really know about all you guys but KOF2k seemed like a much better game. I played KOF2k1 for the first time yesterday and really did not get the same feeling as I did with 2k. I have a lot more fun playing 2000. Oh but the boss of 2k1 is really sweet but extreamly hard with out having to die and use the 1/3 option.
