No known cause of death yet but he had heart problems recently.

He also co-created Nightcrawler, Storm, and Colossus and was the editor for Alan Moore's Watchmen, among numerous other contributions to comics.

This comes just months after the other Swamp Thing co-creator, Bernie Wrightson, died.

Wein also co-created Lucius Fox, the Freedom Fighters, Amanda Waller, Nekron, Cottonmouth, Anton Arcane, Mongul, Prometheus, and later incarnations of Clayface and the Cheetah.

Len Wein was working in superhero comics when I fell in love with the medium. He was never my favorite writer, but I acknowledge his many contributions to a medium I once adored like no other.

RIP Len. Thanks for all the great characters and comics.
