Michael, I like you, but please try to not be so naive.

Lance is a scumbag and cheater, everyone knows it and they always have, many out there just want to believe the lie because they need lance to be some sort of figure for them.

The advanced testicular cancer Lance got is most likely a result of the nasty shit he did to his body.

I think close to everyone was aware that the chances he was doping was highly probable.
My bicycle friends knew it, the media knew it, I even knew it and I wasn't a fan of the sport.
I think it was more disappointing that he drug it out for how long he has
and his attitude about it.

I think it was more disappointing that he drug it out for how long he has and his attitude about it.

If only it were that simple.

The worst part is that he created an obscene farce surrounding cancer and destroyed many reputations and carrers (via bullying, intimidation, threats & frivolus law suits) of people who were legitimate whistleblowers who were doing the right thing.

Now he has walked away with Millions upon millions that he had no right to and there will be many lawsuits & proceedings to try and get that back. U fortunately some have past their statute of limitations but those that have not will probably be pursued relentlessly.

That's the first I've heard of that too.

It's not like we didn't know he was on drugs though. Our own Tour-winner Bjarne Riis also denied everything until he finally owned up to it, much like Lance. 'I did EPO. I did lots of EPO'. That's seriously what he said :p Dude was never much of a wordsmith...

where did you read this?

My apologies for cutting & running after posting that. I was using an Ipad (which I can't stand) to type that so I made my post as brief as possible.

I edited the sentence a bit and will see if i can find the articles from the past (I am on a public computer right now so i don't have my bookmarks.

The only reason the french press (L'Equipe, in particular) and bicycling unions are SO over-the-top trying to nail Lance is because he's an american. Period. They were never this rigorous in going after other dopers. Lance was never press friendly.. compound that with their hatred for americans and his 7 wins in "their race", you have this vitriol.

Americans are funny. You had to be incredibly stupid to NOT see that he was doping. THE ENTIRE SPORT is crooked. Why do americans suddenly care about Lance? When Bonds, McGwire and Sosa were bunting balls over the fence no one gave a shit.

We like our hypocrisy and illusion that things are genuine when they clearly aren't. After the fame, we like to destroy that illusion for some odd reason.

Big fucking deal, he cheated... everyone else was cheating too. I have more to worry about in my life than doping. I don't give a fuck about anything involving cycling (and I regularly ride 60 miles a week).

Lance raised a TON of money for cancer research. Doing the right thing for the wrong reasons is STILL doing the RIGHT thing.

I heard a British radio journalist interviewing a French cycling commentator about the tour de france. The Brit asked him if the French were getting a bit bored of the race, considering a Frenchman hadn't won it in nearly 30 years. His response; "well you Brits still seem to like Wimbledon".

Thought that was pretty good. For a Frenchman of course.

Am I shocked he doped? Hell no, cycling is as dirty as a whores vagina. Am I shocked he lied? See answer to question 1.

Now...am I disappointed he was such a dick about it threatening so many people that tried to tell the truth over the years? Absolutely. This and this alone is why I no longer support him...and haven't for years now.

Now...I'm going to go downstairs and cycle on the trainer for a while and pretend I'm Lance on the Tour...when I'm done ill come on here and be a big dick to everybody...

Why should he pay any back? And why should companies that used his likeness deserve it? Nike and others made a HUGE fortune off this guys name. If they think they're entitled to what they paid him, then they should reimburse any and all consumers for products sold.

Awards money? Tour de France and their TV rights they get to peddle out for the event. Having a Mega star present could only of helped them in that regard. I don't have any sympathy for any parties involved.

I doubt all the higher ups in cycling were so naive as to believe there was no doping going on. Turns out the sport is rife with it. He was the best cheater in a field of cheaters. So he hurt his own health, people made shit loads of cash during the heyday, and he started a cancer foundation.

I don't see this any different than baseball. So what if a 'roided out monster like Mark McGwire was belting homers out of the park. He brought the fans back in after a prolonged strike, helped out the local economy. People paid to be entertained and the cheaters delivered.

Let athlete's cheat, if they want to take the risk why should we care? Just makes for a more entertaining sport. Let em dope and swap limbs for bionic ones and shit. Super Baseball 2020 would be awesome.
