The kind where you actually woke up and did a double check to made sure you were OK. That KIND.

My worst was probably when I was five years old. I had just watched HalloweeN and that night I dreamt Michael Myers was stalking my ass. Now that was NO fun, and I was 5 years old no less. It was like a dream in a dream. I was in bed, when the door slowly opened. I sat up and blinked into the light. Who's there....

AHHHH it's the fucking Boogeyman! White mask, 19 inch knife and all! Needless to say, I didn't watch another HalloweeN until I was 12!

Wow! Steve...My friend Ron who is 22 and is a huge Michael Myers fan..He told me a similar story like yours just the other day..

I never knew that he would have a dream like yours being such a big Michael Myers fan that he is..

I think to this day he may still have a hidden fear of Michael Myers..

The account of his dream sounded so similar to yours..When I email him this he's going to shit himself..

He still watched Halloween though.. after that dream....he said his father had it on a Beta tape and he used to sneak to watch it late at night... just for another night of Nightmares..

The last crazy dream I had was...
Friday night I had a dream about playing PSX Resident Evil again, but in another version or type like either the dual shock or Directors Cut version..(two games that I don't own..I only own the original)..
I have no clue on why I was dreaming about this game/s.
I went late to the flea market on Saturday and only I saw one vendor who gave me a bunch of Atari/C64 stuff for cheap..
When I got home and looked through the box I found a loose copy of a PSX Resident Evil Directors Cut upside down in the bottom of the box...

Now that fkn Spooked me out...

I still have this dream, in varying forms, however the following is the most popular:

I'm walking along the sidewalk that borders my old elementary school, between the building itself and the playgrounds and basketball courts. Everything is submersed in about 1-2 feet of clear, clear, blue water. Suddenly something comes splashing at me, big footsteps belonging to an invisble beast, not entirely unlike the Predator(mind you, these dreams started before I had ever seen the Predator movies). He grabs me by the throat and proceeds to choke me and lift me off the ground, holding me in the air. He then begins to fling my body several dozen feet into the air, each time I'm about to hit the ground he grabs me by my neck and again, tosses me into the air. After a few times of this, he steps away and I awake just before I'm about to hit the ground/water.
The most terrifying version of this dream involved me gasping for breath and waking up on the floor of my room with my bedsheet wound around my neck several times. My neck hurt for two days straight. I've had this dream roughly 10-12 times in my life.

Oh god... we are doing this are we... damn... ok... which one.

The white wolf, well atleast he started that way. He has been with me since I was young. Ever since I can remember he has stalked me. We use to live in Syracuse with this big yard that backed up to a waterline. At night I would see him from my window (kind of a woken/hallucination) I would dream that he, along with other normal wolves were coming down the waterline, down the hill to my house. One night, half awake, half asleep... I dreamed he jumped into my window and was at the foot of my bed snarling (he had come through an open window, there was a fan in it... he jumped through the fan?).... I freaked, he didn't go away. Finally... I closed my eyes... he was gone. Scary shit when you are 7 man.

Another time, I dreamed he was in the hallway, he chased me and then somehow he got in front of me. I looked at him wanting to pass, but he just put out his paw to show his claws... He scratched the wall as if to say don't pass me... I freaked out and woke up. The next morning... FUCKING SCRATCH MARKS IN THE WALL... no lie. Of course, I probably had seen these before and mentally added them to my dream, but holly shit. That unraveled me a little.

He followed me, throughout adolescence, but soon he began to grow darker... no longer white, he now resembled a Grim. Oh man, don't get me started, I'm getting chills thinking about it now... I haven't seen him in my dreams for a few years... I bet I see him tonight thanks to all this!

OK, you screwed me, I don't even want to sleep now... hehe, there are other dreams but I don't even want to get into them at this point! DAMN YOU!

I have this one almost every day, sometimes 2 times a day and I'm not even sleeping when I get it. It's weird.

I sit down on my computer and up comes an instant message from LWK. "Hey, let's hit up some FFS, yeah?" he says and I respond with "hell yeah, meet you at allmame here in a sec". I go to my folder appropriately titled "OMG ROMZ" only to find out that all of my fucking roms are missing!

I begin to sweat, not knowing what to do next. A slight urge to pay for these games comes, but only to leave swiftly, thank god. I check ebay to see who's selling the rom cdrs so I can be sure that I'm up and gaming ASAP, but only to find out that some members on these forums have sabotaged the auction!

This is where I get into a huge fight with the members and calling them queers for buying overpriced video games and Shawn finally bans me. Nobody makes any "free SonGohan" banners though, so unfortunately I'm never allowed back on. Thus I stare out of my window, and watch the rain fall down. A final thought passes my mind about getting a life, and I suddenly wake up in a cold sweat to check my rom folder and my board status.

Life is good.

The other night I dreamt that there was something wrong with my eye, and when I went to rub it, it fell out of its socket.

I should have put it back in right away, but I was scared that it would really hurt, so I continued to hold on to it.

At one point it fell out of my hand, and rolled across the floor. It was covered in dust and lint and immediately became infected.

It swelled up to the size of a tennis ball, and the colour changed to an angry unhealthy red.

Meanwhile I was left with a gaping hole in my head where my eye had been.

My grandmother came up to me and suggested that I wash off my eye, and then stick it in the freezer so the swelling would go down.

Just as I was about to do that, I woke up.

I've had a couple...

I do not remember much of this one now, and It is hard to describe, but I remember it was about this girl I was supposed to meet, so she came to my house in this a odd, spiked, twisted metal kind of car. Everything was dark, or black and white. Many people I know from school or work were at my house using drugs (heroin and a bunch of crazy crap) and getting drunk. She came over to me to get aquainted, and we discussed all kinds of things like life and death etc. For some reason, I thought she would be my girlfriend, but she was far out of my league and. Before she left, she drew about 10 pictures on small pieces of paper and connected them crudely with some tape. She than taped them to my door and left. Later in the dream I inspected them, and received a phone call from her telling me to look on the back of the drawing that showed a knife. It was a note to me explaining our differences and why we could never be together, and then she died.

That was a fucking weird one. I don't have a lot of scary dreams, just a ton of fucking weird ones that I could never think of while awake. Another one is this-

My friend Erik and I were in some majestic ivy-league school going through like a scholar's library with gold shelves and stuff. It seemed like this was a very rich school. I feared we were getting lost, so he said we could cut through the basement to get to class. While in the basement, Erik had to go, and my friend Rob was sitting in a chair in the basement. On the wall was like this 3D house that really scared me. If you've played Alice for the PC, it looks like the "Skool House". There were a bunch of knobs and things to twist, so we began to try to "open" the door. We found a pattern and eventually opened the house on the wall, so we walked in the front door. Inside was a stone room, not very large with a desk and a bar. On the bar were like pieces of un-published novels by the greatest authors in the world. I told Rob to get Mr. Dunn (our old english teacher which I am astonished I had in my dream) so he could look at these writings. When Rob left to get him, Charles Dickinson's ghost came floating through the wall. He explained to me the secrets of life, art and literature... and that is pretty much the whole dream. Needless to say... that one is my favorite.

Most of my dreams involve me discussing serious matters with very intelectual beings. It's actually kind of cool.

When I was younger I had a Siberian Huskey named Akira who, about 2 years ago I had to give away because with college and work I did not have the time to devote to him soooooooo when the family came to pick him up I was not home. Ok the dream

This isnt the scariest dream, but it really flipped me out. I was dreaming that Akira and I were in my back yard just horsing around, having a good time. When I went to bed in my dream he was right there next to me (which was odd because he was never allowed in the house). When I woke up the following morning in my dream he was gone and I couldnt find him anywhere. So when I actualy did wake up I started to subconciously look all around the house for my dog before it dawned on me that it was all a dream. Not scary, but that was probably the worst dream I've ever had. frown

My absolute scariest dreams always involve a Zelda: Ocarina of Time'ish dungeon that I have to plow through. It's not just reminiscent of OOT, but the textures are blurry, the geometry is simple...etc. It really is RIGHT out of OOT.

I'm claustrophobic and deathly afraid of drowning, so there are plenty of tight spots that also happen to be submerged. Fucking scariest dreams of my LIFE.

Or, I dream of deep space expeditions where my team and I get stranded in deep space, or on a planet or moon. Another one of the scariest things I could ever possibly imagine.

When I was a kid, I heard a lot of stories about The Rapture, so one of the most haunting dreams from my childhood involved just that.

For the uninitiated, The Rapture is a reference to that coming time when Jesus Christ returns to Earth and takes away all the Christians. Once this happens, things really go downhill for those left behind.

So, as for the dream, it followed the lines of what I was taught The Rapture would entail. People started disappearing, and unfortuantely I wasn't one of them. On top of that, all the police were possessed by demons, and I somehow knew this because they all wore dark sunglasses to hide their glowing red eyes, and when they talked their voices had a sort of "echo" to it.

I was at a store, trying to buy something, and noticed that the people in line before me had 666 tattooed on their hand or their forehead, and I checked myself and didn't have this mark. So I get out of line, and try to leave the store before the demon-possessed cop at the front door can spot me (cops were everywhere in this dream). The cop notices me, and hits an alarm because I don't have the mark of the Beast, so I take off running.

Running outside, I notice that everything in the world as I know it is topsy-turvy. For example: factories practically everywhere spewing thick smoke into the sky, railroad tracks everywhere with trains moving along the tracks filled with people being taken off to get killed (for not having the mark), huge powerlines dangling really close to the ground popping with giant currents of electricity.

Everybody, even passer-bys on the street see me, and try to catch me for not having the mark. I keep running, feeling like my legs are going to give out and my chest is going to explode. Eventually I find myself in a wooded area, and think I'm safe from society, but in the back of my mind I know it's only a matter of time before the authorities find me and haul me in to get executed.

It really tripped me out having such a profound dream like that as a kid. I still can't shake some of the mental imagery it left in me.

I think you have a book on your hands Lou. Write it up, seems like fun. Maybe it will become a TV movie.

My worst nightmare is always the same, death by hanging. The reason why this is the worst nightmare for me is because I'm the only criminal, hanging by my neck in the desert, and there are no spectators. The worst part of that nightmare isn't about dying, it's about dying alone.

LMK if you *did* end up dreaming of the wolf again...

Chris, I'm not too surprised that my nightmare was similar to your friend's. Being stalked by Michael Myers in your dream seems like a common nightmare for kids to have, so I'm not shocked. It's not really an original nightmare...

On the other hand, other people's nightmares here are REALLY original. I especially like Gojira's.

Seems like everyone here has a fear. Boogeyman, wolf, invisible Predator-like monster, losing one's roms... wink

Thanks for the compliment bokmeow. I think I'm a little too late for that though. That Left Behind series is already cashing in on that.

You'd think after having a dream like that "traumatize" me as a kid, I'd have been the first in line to buy those Left Behind books and see the movie, but aside from reading the first book, I haven't checked into anything about it.

In a way I wish those Left Behind books wouldn't have caught on the way they have. Don't get me wrong, I think it's cool that a Christian publication can get such a mainstream success and following, but at the same time, these books make it too easy for people. I say too easy because what we're getting are the authors' interpretations of end-time events, and people are more likely to read this and take it as gospel-truth rather than research it themselves in the Bible.

That's the thing concerning end-time prophecies. You and I both can read the exact same verse in Scripture, and get totally different meanings out of it. I think the Left Behind franchise kinda' makes it come across as a "Revelation for Dummies" guide, and people are less likely to do their own homework.

Just my two cents on it...

On the other hand, other people's nightmares here are REALLY original. I especially like Gojira's.
/me *takes a small bow*

Glad you enjoyed reading something that scared me as a child. tickled wink

I think one of them was when I was younger, I had watched the crow and then I had a dream he came into the living room at my old room and was sticking a pin in my mums head over and over again.

A more recent one was when I was in bed and I turned over and there was loads of really massive spiders crawling all over me.

I had this really weird dream when I was about 2 or 3 that I still remember. It basically involved Groucho Marx turning into the MGM lion (which I was deathly afraid of back then) and chasing me. I always ran to my parents' bed. It was strange.

The scariest dream I've had in recent memory...

Hrm.

I always have freaky dreams when I eat spicy foods before bed or have a lot of caffeine. Anyways, one night, I had this dream 3 times before I finally fell asleep for good. It kept happeneing in that space between sleeping and being awake, and the dream was me laying in my bed in the dark, just like I really was, but I felt somer presence flaoting just above my body, and it kept chanting a word (might have been my name, can't remember now) and the longer it chnated, the harder it got for me to breathe until finally my airway was cut off altogether. Then I would wake up and I would be gasping for breath. This happened 3 times in a row, except the final time I saw the eyes of whatever was floating above me right before I woke up.

And something else happened last week that really scared the shit out of me. Something startled me out of my sleep in the middle of the night, and I look into my open doorway, and I see the sillouette of like a 8-10 year old child standing there, and then it walkeds off down the hallway. I think I slept with the lights/tv on for the rest of the week wink

Dude, we should talk... I've had similar things happen to me... though I didn't want to write about them here... But, how about this one:

I was in Phoenix for Thanksgiving weekend. My brother was sick in LA, and I almost canceled my trip, but he said he was fine and he would talk to me after Thanksgiving.

Anyway, the first night I woke up in a cold sweat. Someone had whispered something to me, in my ear, it was loud... but I didn't quite understand it. I lay awake, blind (I can't see at all without glasses/contacts, and I didn't bring my glasses with me on the trip... Contacts were in the bathroom). So there I was blind, and a bit spooked... what was that... Was it someone playing a trick on me, I looked around, didn't see anything out of the ordinary, squinted... then laid back down to sleep.

5mins later "Death" I was up again, I heard it that time, it was loud. Someone just said Death in my ear! I was now having a panic attack. I couldn't see, I felt trapped in Phoenix (I hadn't driven, and my friend was in another part of the house with the car keys)... and something was saying death in my ear. I was wide awake, atleast I thought I was, and I heard it again. I flicked on all the lights and it was silent... very very silent. I turned on the TV, and loud, almost hoping it would drown out the silence, but I was too well aware of it.

At this point I was sure my father had passed away. I didn't know why, but I thought my father was dead, and I wanted to call home, but it was 3 in the morning and it would do no good to call now... I reluctantly went back to sleep, but I didn't sleep at all. I had the TV on and just nervously watched the blurred image from across the room (my eyesite is so bad, the TV was merely
a sea of changing lights and comforting voices).

Well, finally morning came and all seemed normal. I called home, everyone was alright... and I figured I had a panic attack from just being away from home, not able to see, bad dream, etc.

We go back to LA on Sunday... I go to bed, I don't think about it again... happy to be home. The next night I get a call from the Police, my brother was found dead in his apartment... he passed away sometime Saturday evening... He had vomited in his sleep (due to his illness) and choked...

I was convinced I was being warned that night in Phoenix... maybe I don't know... Maybe my fear for my brothers well being was on my mind and wouldn't allow me to get to sleep... but... I thought he was going to be fine, no one thought he was sick enough to die! I would have never gone if I thought he was that sick! Just a strange thing to have happen... and not the first time either.

This one, I'll keep shorter. I was in my apartment in Tampa Fl. One night I woke to watch a shadowy figure fly over my head. I was sure it was the Grim Reaper, I can't tell you why, it just seemed like it to me. It was all black and was carrying something... not a sickle, but it looked ominous. I wasn't frightened persay, but a bit freaked none the less. It flew over my head into the wall behind me as I lay in bed. Our eyes, or atleast faces met as it passed.

I was woke again severly hours later to flashing lights dancing around my apartment. An ambulance and a police car were outside. I threw some clothes on and went out to see what was up. The ederly gentlemen that lived next door to me had triggered his life alert... He died before the ambulance had gotten there. Heart attack.

Still to this day, I wonder if I heard him calling for help. I don't recall it, but, did I create the death portent... was it triggered by some subconcious link?

I still wonder. I've had so many things like this happen to me... which is always hard for me since I am truly a man of science. I try to look at it from all angles, but sometimes it is hard to just say that it is all bunk.

More recently I couldn't sleep because I was sure my closet was going to flood. It kept me up so that I finally took all my expensive recording gear out and moved it to my computer room. The next morning I awoke to soaked carpets. The waterheater broke and leaked... flooding the closet... I don't know folks... sometimes... I just don't know,

Steve's topics are the fucking best! I hope he never gets banned for any reason.

Everyone else, thanks for the fantastic reads! I've missed this placed.

Chris1 - I'm always having dreams like that! here are a few I can think of...

The most memorable was a dream of purple lightning in the sky. Two days later I was in a music shop looking for a new guitar strap and I just couldn't find one to fit my fancy, I noticed there was one on the floor bearing a purple lightning design, just like in my dream. I had to buy it.

Two weeks passed. I went on ebay to look for some Thin Lizzy vinyl, won a couple of last minute auctions and then visited the sellers website - it shared the same background tile as the design on my strap and in my dream. Fantastic stuff!! I even told the guy the story, he must've thought I was a fruitcake.

The most recent one was around a week ago. I had a brief dream that my front left canine tooth fell out. Weird stuff. The very next day I was emailed a photo that was to go on a Telemarketing website I had been working on. The photo shows two reps from the company plus two 'Investors in People' bods. The woman from IIP had a space where her left canine should be.

Another dream involved playing Powerstone three months before I'd even seen a screenshot. The fight was between a red coloured Heidern of KOF fame and a guy that looked a little like Choi from KOF also, the stage was inside a 3-storey chinese cafe where tables, chairs, pots and petrol bombs could be thrown whilst jumping all over the place trying to evade.

Oh man that's so Cool...

I think I slept with the lights/tv on for the rest of the week wink

sounds like you have old hags syndrome or sleep paralysis as it is otherwise known.
I have suffered from this since about the age of 15.
whenever i have trouble sleeping it feels like i am still awake in my bed but i can feel a presence in the room and can't move.i've had lots of other weird stuff happen but i don't really want to get into it here...
a lot of people feel like they cant breathe and someone/something is pressing down on them but that doesn't happen to me.
i've also had the whispering in the ear thing as well :(
heres some good info tho

The time (I think it was in my mid-teens) when I dreamt about the whole world being devoured in a blanket of grey and the only people that were still alive after a disease wipeout were my aunt and I. The clouds took shapes of skulls, demons, monsters, and I couldn't wake up for anything. My aunt was then struck by lightning multiple times and the sky had a stream of fire penetrating the horizon. I was so alone and had no one to turn to for help and just then, the clouds starting laughing at me. At this time, I was outside a shack on top of a hill and all the natural disasters occurred at once and I thought this is the end. A tidal wave was approaching me and as soon I felt the impact, my alarm rung and it was tiem for school. What made it even worse was that that entire day back home was grey, also. I was a paranoid mother fucker too say the least. eek_2

that's happened to me too once. I've moved from that house though and never had any problems again. But this was also around the time that my great grandpa died. I hope I don't have to get this everytime somenoe dies. It really hurts. It's like having a fat guy sit on your entrire chest. and you can't talk either

I wouldn't call this over the top scary, but once I had a dream were I was in the family Bronco II with my mother and father, they were both having a nice conversation when I look in the distance. Here I see that we are on train tracks heading towards a Grand Canyon-style drop-off and tracks end right in the middle?!

So, I'm sitting there screaming my head off trying to point to this FREAK'N HUGE gap, but nobody's listening.

Sure enough, we reach the end. We begin our wonderful fall into the canyon (at list point I'm actually feeling the rollercoaster-like falling effects). The fall lasts no more than 5 seconds.

All of a sudden I woke up with a sharp pain in my nose. Hehe, there I am lying on the floor. I rolled over in my sleep and fell out of bed tickled eye eye tickled

I just busted out laughing immediately.

It's kind of funky how that dream went though. Did the entire length of that dream spand those few seconds between my bed and the floor?

Hmm......
