Oh my gosh did I ever tell you guys about this Turkish girl I absolutely adored. Her name was Ahu and she looked like a painting in motion. She was absolutely stunning.
We were both in the same department at school, but we never really talked about everything material - it was always just very formal chit chat. So I thought long and hard about how I can really talk to her to get to know her...past the chit chat stage. So one day I go up to her, and our conversation goes like this:
Me: Hey!
Her: Hi.
Me: So, um, do you like the Smashing Pumpkins?
Her: No.
Me: Oh ok. Well, you know the guitar player for the Smashing Pumpkins name is James Iha?
Her: (silence)
Me: You know, if you ever married him your name would be Ahu Iha
Her: (silence)
Me: Hey that's a lot of vowels...well, at least in relation to the number of consonants in that name. I mean, the vowels to total letter ratio is like 67%.
Her: ...don't ever speak to me again. (walks away)
So yeah, it didn't go so well. It still hurts to think about it.
