Is anybody else getting their ass beaten in Virtua Fighter 4?

Good lord this game is hard. I played Virtua Fighter 2 to death when it was still in its hey day (when they would teach classes in Japan on how to master characters), but my god I am getting my ass handed to me in this game.

I think it's all the King of Fighters I've been playing. Virtua Fighter 4 is just soooo deep it's insane. Ugh. I love it, though.

What's everyone's opinion on this game?

I feel your pain on this one dude. I think it's mainly because VF feels so alien compared to every other fighting game. No other fighter has such a steep ass learning curve. It just hands you your own ass repeatedly. I'm giving it plenty of time.

I don't own the game, but I go over a friends house to play it. When I first played the game, I was expecting a great fighting game from Sega, but later I was proven wrong. It is THE greatest fighting game ever made. I have played both VF 2 and VF 3 and I can say this is the best VF game ever made. Its funny though how I beat my friend easily using Jeffrey even though he had the game since its release. Too bad I don't have a PS2. I haven't played the game thoroughly to find out if it is much deeper than the previous ones.

Yeh, the game is hard for me. I sucks!

So I change option game controller.

-punch = square
-kick = cross
-guard = R1

That's better!

I've got it and I must say it IS very difficult. I still haven't gotten evading down yet. But even if I did, it probably wouldn't matter much because normally i'll be thrown when trying to evade. It's WILD! you can attack, the ai will counter attack, you can evade, then counterattack again It's MADNESS I tell you.. so many options..you need to know ALL the moves and WHEN to use them. I've pretty much given up on Kumite mode for a while, my loses have almost caught up with my wins! <img src="graemlins/ohno.gif" border="0" alt="[Oh No]" />
