How long can your gamer tag be on Xbox Live?

I'm thinking of changing my name, but I can't find anywhere on the Xbox site where it says how long your name can be.

Anyone know?

No idea. Never tried to test that limit. In general, I keep most of my names short. Kirk Foiden is the longest username I've used.
