I seen many people use different styles of holding the joystick. I have my index and middle finger wrapped around the joystick. In a form of a hook. How do you hold your joystick?(and no not your joystick the ARCADE joystick wink )

The stick is held between my middle and ring finger and my thumb is pressed against it for precise movement. Been holding the joystick like that for about 17 years now :)

I let my girlfriend hold the joystick. Sometimes other female co-workers like to come over and play, but I prefer nothing more than 2-player simultaneous action.

i put the index and ring over the top of it, kinda to the side, and my thumb wraps around it. i tuck my pinky and ring under my palm, or kinda just around the stick a bit..

My whole hand grabs the stick.
Me too..
I hold it solid but slightly under the top of the stick.
I was playing KOF 94 tonight with a friend on my Cab,and I noticed that..
He holds the stick with his hand open.
He has his hand cupped over the stick not grabbing it solidly.
His is not closing his hand.
We played several fighting games tonight and since he holds his hand like a cup over the stick it seemed like he had to do a lot more moving around with his hand to pull off a special move.
I have new joysticks in the cab,and he was pulling off all kinds of special moves on me.

I had stopped playing for a second and I asked him,"who the Fk's house have you been practicing at"..

Only use my three fingers, the only ones needed to write with: thumb, index, & middle. Usually have the last two digits out so as not to interfere. Holding it with your entire hand may give more control, but I find it difficult to pull off many motions very quickly, which is important. My three fingers have more dexterity than my whole palm.

It's not fair, ShikiMikoto said that too, but why you only scold me?

I prefer keybroad to joystick!

Can't spell either, but back to the topic at hand. I hold the joystick as if I'm holding a drumstickin my left hand playing traditionally. Then, there're other times where I cover the entire stick/ my hand. Of course, variations will come here and there, esp. when you find a Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Adder or Captain Commando with the controls switched.
