ok this guy uses clark and i was wondering how do u stop it. first when i roll he grabs me with AB (argentine backbreaker) does the flashing elbow either calls out the other iori striker or a joe striker. then does either a gatling with a napalm stretch or a super power bomb. so far all he needs to do is just get me in a AB and im done for. how would u handle this?? any strategies?

i use clark quite a bit and the only
thing that throws off my game is
when the character is very aggresive.
but to tell you the truth its very easy to
catch an aggressor in a throw when they are
to close.
another thing that i cant stand is that clark
can throw most of the time into the command throw
when you get up.. but some characters can counter that..
like vanessas double punching as clarkjust
gets up..
so when you try to throw...
you eat the punches instead.
fuked.
its okay though..
the rememdy is to just block
as for fighting a clark player use
regular moves.
you ll find that most characters have
a long reach regular move like a standing
hard kick or punch..
try not to use moves that make you lag for a
moment because all clark has to do is roll
past it and grab you.
ie. dont use a predictable fireball pattern

You wanna know how to beat Clark?!

1. You a fighter predestined for distance (Takuma rules!!!)

2. Do not let him come near you!

3. If he manages to come near you by rolling just rapidly use weak punch or kick. It is cheap but he will not have the chance to grab you (like any throw character else)

4. If he tries to get you by jumping, you should know what to do!

5. Try harder, dude!!!

For starters, don't roll at Clark. In fact, try not to roll at all. If the Clark player walks right up to you and rolls, throw him first (though most Clark players aren't that stupid). A word to the wise: at close range, low B's are useless against throws (throws go right through them), and low A's will only save you sometimes, and usually because the grappler screwed up his timing.

Pull him out of the air with a good early air-defense special or a good low C (Ryo has a good one, Terry's dwn-fwd+C is also good). One of the oldest Clark tricks is doing an early jump D/CD (which tricks you into blocking), then doing a throw as he lands. You should be wise to this trick by now.

Also, don't use laggy moves or combos; if you're going to do a jump-in attack, time it properly or you'll get counter-thrown; if your normal attacks are blocked, don't follow up with a laggy special. Grapplers capitalize on openings like that to counter you with throws. If possible, choose a character with a good, high-priority poke (Terry's far standing B is still pretty OK, even in 2000).

Throw out a laggy move on purpose and fry him with a Ralf striker.

That and try using a character with high-priority regular moves (like Leona or King)

Actually, right there is your answer. Just take him out with King and send him home crying. I'm a Clark player too, and no self-respecting Ikari player would abuse a Joe striker.

He deserves to have King all up in his face. With a Seth striker to boot.

Having using only Clark (see icon ) and Ralf. The best way would be to keep your distance and block any DM or running moves. My favorite way of fooling an opponent when I pick Clark (that's 90% of the time ) is to fake a run by doing a dash and then do a DM or in '99+ do the mount tackle along with the devastating rolling cradle or the DDT or the Clark Lift. But like I said, just keep away from Clark and block any running attack or just don't play against your friend... that would guarantee you a instant win and save you an ass kicking

This is why I love KOF 99 and above when it comes to Clark, SNK did a great job by adding new grappling moves and keeping the devastating DM and SDM.

thanks, but i have my type of tactic. run away. i jump away back and forth with D, which works for a little while. then i get trapped in the corner, he crushes my guard and im done. bleh

If I was trapped against Clark, I would just let him throw me (SAB or anything else). That way, you'll be able to fall (hopefully) back in the middle of the screen. That's the only way I can see for getting out of a corner since Clark got a great anti air move and awesome grabs. You may try a low kick though if you play cheap . Honestly, it might work but take a throw, you'll lose energy but still be able to recover since the throw will probably get you out of the corner. Also, call your striker ASAP when you fall in the middle.

Hope this help, but to be honest, I have a hard time trying to figure out a way to beat my favorite KOF fighter.
