Has anyone ever played these Japanese Squaresoft titles before?

I've heard Tom Sawyer is one of the worst games in existence.

I don't know how the fuck, but I had Thexder on my computer when I was a kid. That is weird, I'm absolutely certain of the name too.

GameArts made Thexder but the Square develop the conversion for the Famicom Sierra ported in the US for IBM PC, Apple II, Commodore Amiga, and Tandy TRS-80 Color Computer

Alchaest (Super Famicom) is a nice action/RPG game =)
I love this game so much.
Oh, Human developed and squaresoft was the publisher for this game.

there is a reason you've never played these games, they suck! seriously, square would have pimped them out in a PSX collection here by now, like they did with the old famicom FF games.

yeah, me too. There was a transforming robot, if i'm not mistaken?

Alcahest seems good. I played twenty or so minutes of it a while ago. Then i went and found a walkthru on gamefaqs and i discovered i already had botched something. I haven't gone back and started the game again (too many god damn games i want to play) but i should; it's more action-oriented than some action-rpgs and i like that.

DashK is right... the only import by Square that was actually worth playing was Bahamut Lagoon and I don't think most Americans would go for that game either. Front Mission 1 was fun at first but got incredably boring toward the end. I tried a few of these before and they're just not that great.

yeah, there is a reason final fantasy saved square from bankruptcy, it was their only decent game series until the PSX i'd say (besides chrono trigger).

I played Alcahest. I loved it. Very old school, straight forward game, killer graphics, real time action. The gameplay resembles Noigear a little bit, but with no SD characters.

I want to buy this cartridge. :buttrock:

Thanx for the feedback y'all.

I do have this PSX Squaresoft import called "Soukaigi".

It's a action adventure game.

The soundtrack is awesome. Most of the stage music has vocals.

A Japanese rendition of Tom Sawyer?

weird

Yup. It exists.

Nobuo Uematsu did the music for it too.

I just learned there's a Japan only 3-D Worldrunner Sequel.

I don't think those games are bad but Square USA was too lazy to port those titles.

US missed a lot of good titles during 16-bit & 32-bit eras.

I own all the JPN Squaresoft titles on my SNES.

Seiken Densetsu 3 and Treasure Hunter G are by far the best, great stuff

Aw man that's awesome. Owning every Super Famicom Square title, that's hardcore.

-----------

3-D World Runner is almost a dead ringer for Space Harrier.
