Thanks for info Gemant. The Arcadia issue you're talking about with the
Hamu Hamu record for MS3 is the one with the Pro-Gear cover right?

I should be getting some of the Arcadia past issues soon.
I will post scans if I can, if anyone wants, that is.

You! You didn't tell me that was in the issue! I never actually opened them.

Anyhow I might be able to pick up a copy or two of the DVD. But I have another problem to sort out first, so if I can do it, I simply will, instead of post about it here.

Dallas: More or less yes, just stop getting the power-ups or waste the shots if you do, esp. on mission 1 where you do not really need them. I forget if anyone mentioned it but another scoring tip on mission 1 is when the boat fires soldiers/bombs up in the air that rain down upon your boat, try to keep at it for a while and knife as many grunts as possible. Sometimes a lot come, sometimes mostly bombs. You can also knife them out of the air as they are falling to save what can be precious few seconds when trying to avoid death from other obstacles.

One of the reasons I like Arcadia magazine is because of their high score scene
section ;)

I was just looking at one of my NeoGeoFreak Magz, and saw a score of
1,632,953 for the 1st stage. It's on issue 5 year 2000, page 43.

yes is true, but the credits used are 4!!

I bet there is a place in one of the 3 routes with infinite enemies, where the guy timed out and lost all those lifes.

Oh, so that's how he did it. Although I thought after so many soldiers, you could keep shooting them, but they wouldn't count for any points (like the one on the boat that keeps coming out to pump water out of the boat after you shoot it).

Heh, so it is. I would hang around there for a while as I advised above but always wondered if my boat would explode under too much bombing (it does take damage) and so never wanted to risk it, killing the car in the end.

bump!

Well, I tried this and those soldiers dont count toward the score either shot or knifed.

So how the high score is achieved is still unsolved.

I tried it out again and still no go.

The soldiers that drop from the vines count but those fired by the trucks dont.

I'm playing on an unmodded jpn home system with the 2nd release jpn homecart.

I have the same issue Metallizer.

The ones dropping the vines gives you the same points as any other enemy shot or knifed, but the infinite ones never gave me a single point more. is there any strategy to get them to make the score increase ?

Beating the 1st stage over 8xx,xxx pts is already a tough task if you risk a bit.

I'm thinking that's only on the mvs version maybe?
as the pics I saw where from one of my Gamest
magazines, and all of them are shot from the mvs
version.

Could SNK really care enough to change the home version when nobody in Japan will even care about a high score someone achieved outside an arcade where it can be recorded officially into history?

NEO BOMBERMAN, if you can buy the video from daytona III game center, you can know the secrets of metal slug 3, and I'm sure, also the secrets of stage 1....

Well I got everything. Only two of the Metal Slug 3 DVD's are for me though.

Anxious to watch it though I expect it will be one of the most boring learning experiences I ever will have sat through. Just think about it, sitting in your chair, watching him knife the odd falling grunt for 5 solid minutes, and how many times throughout the game are you going to be subjected to this? Though I still think it will be amazing.

When I want to offer one or both for sale I will. That probably won't be for a while, but I have it at least, which means its content is going to be exported to the West.
