why is the component cable rare? that seems so dumb

Because Nintendo doesn't give a crap about hidef and they don't want to make them.

I was thinking about this the other day, as I've always used S-Video for the Cube even though I've always had component for my PS2, Xbox and 360. At this point it's not worth it for me, as once I finish Metroid Prime 2 my Gamecube is probably going back into storage for good.

Of course, even with S-Video Resident Evil 4 still looks awesome, blows away the PS2 component video.:buttrock:

M3h, S-vid will do the job for the GC.

Component isn't even necessary.

Um, last I checked, you can get the Gamecube Component cable at the Nintendo World in New York City for $29.95. Probably gonna swing by to pick one up this weekend, gonna be in the city.

The major advantage of the Componet cable is that it can be hacked into a VGA cable.

And 99.99% of the worthwhile games support High Rez mode.
