Just got a call from one of my good Electronics Boutique friends, Matt, with some really great news for you non-Garou:MOTW owners. Here's what he said, in a nutshell:

"Hey, Jon! Sorry I didn't get to talk to you very much at the store today."

"Oh, that's OK, Matt."

"Anyway, I can't BELIEVE what we got in today...Garou for US Dreamcast."

"Cool. Hold onto one till Monday for me?"

"Sure."

Even though I already own it on MVS, still nice to see how well Sega did a port of it. Get to the stores now and pick up your own copy!!

SNK did the port. It's their last port.

I picked a copy up today at Best Buy and I had a $5.00 off coupon so I only paid $25. Will open it up in a few and see what's up.

yeah, i picked up a coupla' copies on wednesday at the galleria.

everything seems intact.

with english text now, and no need to boot up to play- this is the copy i'll be playing from here on out.

i suggest everyone go out and show support and buy this- one of the greatest fighters of all-time- for a mere $30.00.

big-up's to agetec.

oh btw, if i'm not mistaken, terry now says "power wave" with his projectile, instead of "fuck you" or whatever he said before (rock you?).

let the debate/discussion begin...

I drove all the way across town to pick up that damn game (stupid local stores). Damn is this worth it though lol. Almost all the sounds are right on and the graphics are very clear and almost all of the animations are there. So far I only have one gripe, WHERE THE HELL IS MARKY(that little kid that hangs out with Kevin)?!?!? My other slight complaint would be once again that damn dc controller in general but I can't seem to find one of those agetec arcade sticks at a reasonable price, which btw if anyone can help me find one of those I'll be forever grateful. All in all, for $30, if you own a dc then there's no reason not to buy this game, ah hell at $50 a dc it still works out cheaper than the cart anyway. GO BUY IT!! THANKS AGETEC!!!

Does the US MoTW have the art gallery like the jap MoTW's did. I'll just stick with my Jap MoTW for now. I really don't need to buy the US version. I could careless about the text.

My pre-ordered copy of MotW also arrived on Friday, and yes, it was worth the wait. After all the hype and anticipation, I can't believe this game actually SURPASSES my expectations.

Anybody who doesn't own this game for a measily $30 is crazy. If you don't own a Dreamcast that's no excuse either becuase bran new they're only $50! So... GO BUY NOW!!!

Well, I just got this game today and rather than making a new topic I can just as easily reply to this ancient topic that has been dug out...

It's an excellent port. It felt a little weird at the character select screen, but the game is all there. The graphics are exactly the same as the Neo version, there's no censoring, it's a flawless port.

The art gallery is there.

It has an arranged soundtrack.

There is no reason for anyone to not own this. I just wish the Dreamcast controllers didn't suck so much... They feel so light and flimsy and crappy. They work perfectly though, every time I want to do a movie it works perfectly...

Buy the game now before it's too late. It basically makes the home cart obsolete. I'm so glad I sold my MOTW home cart before it was too late...

I picked mine up at GameStop today!

Overall I was very impressed with the translation. The characters do seem slightly smaller on the DC version. Mabey I've been jerking off too much and going blind as a result, but that's just the way I see it. All the frames of animation seem to be intact. The sound is great.

To anyone who doesn't own some version of MOTW and wants to, it can be had for
DC=$50
Game=$30
Arcade Stick=$50
Total=$130

For the price of just the MVS cartridge you can get the whole DC setup.

This is as good of a translation as we are going to see. Go out and get it! Let Agetec know that there is still a market for SNK 2D game translations. Now if only they could see about porting MS3 over to the DC...

YES!!!! Finally got Garou Mark of the Wolves the Agetec DC version and it ROCKS like AEROSMITH. DAMN this game looks real good and the control even on the DC pad is fluid. Hell, I can even bear the DC pad at this point coz the motions on the clunky DC pad was forgiving for me. There are some oddity in character design (like Freeman and Hotaru) but they all have fluid special moves to accompany their repertoire. SNK really did went out with a BANG developing MotW before they went out of business. SNK, you will always be unforgettable in my lifespan. Also a little kudos for Agetec publishing MotW to DC. Garou Mark of the Wolves you badass piece of software!!!

Some differences in the U.S DC release I have noticed are...Agetec actually bothered to change Terry's voice for some moves. They changed "Rock you" for his power wave move...to "POWER WAVE" which I guess is pretty hardcore, but not needed. They also wrote "Fatal Fury" over the RB2 billboard in Hotakumaru's stage for no reason. Also when you hit start on the title screen, "Garou" changes to "Fatal Fury". The sound effects still don't match up to the gameplay on screen, as I expected. Notice anything else?>>>

I'm actually really disapointed with this port of MOTW. Why? For one, there is A LOT of lag in the game. When you do a move, sometimes, the voice track will play about a couple seconds after it should have. Particular levels, especially Terry's train level, slow the fight down to a crawl. The arranged music sounds like a pop band did it...awful. Good thing you can switch to the original or it would just totally suck. There are many more bugs and things just plain wrong with this game.

Here's what I say: BUY THE MVS!!! For about $50 more you can have the REAL THING without all the bugs. The only reason I have it is for the practice mode. Yeah, yeah..so what if I'm a purist?

I've heard ... and I'm by no means versed in techie stuff so forgive me if I get the terminology wrong ... but if you run the game through a VGA box (or something?) the characters are bigger. I dunno, I have the Japanese version and my Dreamcast is hooked up the AV cable way, but I've never even seen the real Neo Garou so me dunno nawsing.

I got the Garou DC port, and I must say Agetec did a fabulous job. Me and the other 2D purists around here have been playing it nonstop
