Hey everyone,

I was just curious if you can recall the first Neo Geo game you actually saw/played.

For me the neo was something more of legend. As kids did then, we were busy trading NES/SNES/Sega in the neighborhood because no one could afford all the good games. There were always rumors some persons dad knew some guy who worked for SNK and got the system blah blah but it never went past that.

The first game I actually saw was 3 count bout in an MVS cab at a run down flea market. I couldn't believe what I was watching, it seemed so amazing.

Later on our bowling alley got art of fighting, and that was the first time I got to play an actual game. I still have a soft spot for AoF and loved the graphical scaling. Back then it was incredible tech.

Years later once I turned 15 I actually worked and saved up to buy a used AES, Baseball Stars, Samurai Shodown, and World Heroes. I actually provided a tangible Neo Geo experience to kids in the neighborhood and it actually felt great to do it.

A few years later I sold it all to some older gentleman who promptly paid me asking price no questions asked. I sold my neo to put towards a new mountain bike just so I could get to work. Biggest regret of my life. I still see the bike at my parents house collecting dust when I visit.

Now I'm back considering a CMVS because I'll never be able to afford an AES.

Anywho, just curious what your first Neo Experience was.

Later-

Sam Sho 1 in what used to Software Etc. This was when the Neo Geo first came out. I was like, only high rollers can afford this beast of a machine.

I think it was samurai showdown 2. It was either ss2 or ss1. But I still think that ss2 was the pinnacle of the series and the colors, the character designs, and the scaling/scrolling make this an amazing game that I still play to this day. Ss1 is not bad either

Yeah SS1 was just amazing. I think I paid around $200 for it when it came out but I just had to have it. World Heroes god love it was just getting stale as shit for me at the time. The best part was going to the arcades in my younger age and absolutely destroying people. I could literally go undefeated for an hour.
I will say SS2 is my favorite in the series as well though.

The legendary Neo Geo owned by some guy's dad's friend's brother's wealthy kid... pretty much the stardard cliche (or a variation of) for the Neo. :D

First I ever played was League Bowling. Really great arcadey-party feel to it along with solid mechanics.

Sengoku at a local arcade spot that closed down long time ago. I remember my mom giving me 1 dollar to go play and the 2 games I chose was Sengoku and The Simpsons.

It may have been Bust a Move, but I partially want to say Metal Slug or Fatal Fury

Magician Lord was the first I played. Though its hard as hell still one of my favorites probably because of the nostalgia value for me.

I went to a pretty standard market, sometime mid 90's, and there they were, about 10 or so neo geo games in their massive boxes staring back at me. I remember begging my parents to let me stay longer, we were going to the cinema or something that afternoon but all I wanted to do was just sit there and stare at the game boxes. The one that sticks out in my mind was King of the Monsters.

The first game I ever saw in the arcades was Fatal Fury 2 in the early 90's. Even though I did not play it back then I always remember "the 100 mega shock!" popping up onto the screen then the intro starting. Fond memories.

It was back in 91, when I first saw a 6 slot MVS ( Riding Hero/T.Rally/M.Lord/NAM/TP Golf/Blue's Journey ) running.
In the same year, I saw the AES in action for the first time running KOTM.
First time I played it was when Fatal Fury launched, but Alpha Mission II was the one they let me play back in the shop.

I always loved the pause in the announcers voice after Men.............RETURN.

Another thing I remember vividly was the first time playing SS1 when Haohmaru does his winning pose, throwing the sword in the air, spinning the sheath, and it landing in there, I was near weak in the knees.

My first encounter with a Neo was at a Putt-Putt down the street from my brother's house. It was a 4 slot with Magician Lord, Nam 75, Blue's Journey and Sengoku. When I bought my first AES a year later in 1991 those were the first 4 games I bought, (for 50 a pop believe it or not). I miss that thing still to this day, but I have it all on MVS in my 2/4 slot machine out in the garage.

Like a bad tattoo I need to live with it. I wish I was in my teens when I signed up (I'm over 30), guess I never grew up. I still like video games :(

The Super Spy. For some reason that I can not now recall, I was out with my friend and his mom was driving us around. I'm thinking this was sometime around '94-95. We stopped in some dark hole in the wall game store and there was a TV at the end of a long counter running The Super Spy. While they were doing their business I spent the whole time playing the Neo and for years later the game and console were but a fuzzy memory. It wasn't until later that I figured out the game I played in that store was The Super Spy on an AES.

My dad had a route selling snacks and stuff at gas stations/car washes and stuff so I would go with him to work sometimes and pretend I was playing the cabs. He rarely gave me quarters to play but man I always wanted to play the Neo cabs which I remember usually having bust a move and samsho.

The two slot in the local arcade was the first time I played. Fatal Fury first and KotM next, in that order.

I remember seeing the AES at Babbages and Software Etc, Magician Lord, Baseball Stars, etc. As for actually playing a Neo, wouldn't be until college and KOF95.
