Fuck, I still need to buy a 3DS... so much good stuff to catch up on, and with Dragon Quest rereleases maybe coming this is all the more tempting.

The only reason I am holding on to my PS1 version of DQ7 is because this remake isn't here. I would love the games to go on the 3DS, especially DQ8 as its a fantastic game that isn't spoken about enough

It would be great to have the localisations but I think they've missed the boat on DQVII just because VIII is right around the corner and they are only still *considering* it (given this is still only a rumour)...Great news on DQXI as well, can't wait for a reveal on that.

I'd buy 'em. The DS remake of IV was well done, and, even though it wasn't a remake, I fucking loved IX. It was the last new rpg I invested time into. Lots an lots of time.

I could care less about DQ 7, played the PS1 version for a few hours and found it very tedious. But DQ 8 is a frigging masterpiece, definitely in my top 10 RPGs of all time. Nice that we are finally getting a proper port of it, there is a mobile phone version but it is an abomination (Bad framerate, no orchesteral music since it is based of the JP PS2 version, and forces you to play the game in a vertical tate mode for some ungodly reason)

For anybody that doesn't have a 3ds yet, I was poking around Nintendo's online store and noticed that refurbished 2ds consoles are $65 shipped- not a bad deal

I shall purchase these and inject them right into my veins.

Also hyped as fuck that DBZ Extreme Butoden for 3DS is getting localized. I love the Butoden series (well, except UB22 and GT:FB) and Arc is developing this one.

these are awesome and everything, but i'm not fooling myself anymore. These are 40+ hr RPG's. I can't do it.

First playthrough took me 120 hours on 7. A recent playthrough took 55-60. I could never create the grand slum for the best casino.

I agree. I just can't do these huge lengthy RPGs anymore, even when they are awesome. I guess I'm getting too old. Probably will still end up buying them anyway though >_<;;

I find I end up starting them, and not finishing them. Either because I get bored, or get stuck. I used to finish all of them.

I do the same thing, but some times I'll go back down the road and finish them. Usually by that time I totally forget everything that happened. It took me a year to play Bravely Default. Earthbound too, I played that in two marathons separated by about a 6 months.

I can't do this, if I stop an RPG I have to start over because I want to know what happened. I'll try to not start an RPG these days unless I fully intend on beating it, since I don't have much free time as it is I don't want to waste it on a game I won't finish

Once, I loaded up an old save and found my party at a save point at the bottom of a dungeon with no idea what I was doing down there or what I was supposed to do. >_<;;

Yeah, with both of those games I thought about restarting. I have to say though, I did enjoy the second half play on both of those games. More so earthbound. Bravely Default was a grind.

Holy shit was BD a great game, but dam the twist in the game near the end where
Spoiler:
you have to beat all the boss I forgot how many upteen times was bullshit.

At 100 hours on that game I called it good and quit. Earthbound I got near the end and got stuck on a boss and never beat it.

That was my only problem with BD, otherwise I loved it. Chapters, what, 4-7 were a grind.

I tried Earthbound a lot growing up but never got through it. I never really understood why everyone loved it so much, until I just finished it recently. I get it now, although I still don't think its worth the prices people pay for it.

I get a 2 week block of vacation every year. That's usually the time I take to play an RPG.

It's definitely worth the $10 to get it on Wii U. $200 or whatever the SNES cart is going for these days is downright stupid.

I'm so jealous of those people who have that big-box edition though. I have it for WiiU but (like all my other RPGs) I only played like 15 minutes of it and never got back to it.

Yea, I had a friend who bought it at a garage sale cheap, and I traded like $100 of shitty games like Vampire Savior on Saturn I didn't want for it. I have it on WiiU too for convenience.

Prices are outrageous, but I envy people who have a complete copy.
