Datel's 4GB hdd/2X battery for PSP & dumbass EBGames & Circuit City employees........
well, after spotting one of these fuckers in a Best Buy store in Panama City Beach (FL), i decided to pick one up a few days later at my local Best Buy (Destin, FL). even i think i'm an idiot for picking the shit up. BUT i have memory sticks in these sizes LOADED with shit (emulators, isoloaders, tons of SNES, Neo Geo CD, and Genesis games and more): 1GB, 512MB, 256MB, and 32MB and i plan on rearranging it and using it for more fastloader shit and more DVD transfers.
at first, i was worried about the size and weight of it..........much to my surprise, it's not that big and it weighs a LOT less than one might think. i took it apart (as i've seen in various images) and can confirm that you can easily use any size Compact Flash cards you own as well (just pull out the 4GB microdrive and slap a CF in, up to 4GB). works like a charm. so, that added even more memory to my already abundant collection. this thing isn't for everyone though--if you don't like it, don't get it. if you do a LOT of isoloading, emulation/games, movies, and music, i'd suggest getting it. it's still a lot cheaper than the 2GB memory sticks, plus you get the 2X battery to go along with it (the added shit provides a nice hand grip as well).
on a side note, after seeing it in the PCB Best Buy, i called around locally to find out if anyone had one. first up, EBGames...............BIG MISTAKE. i ask if they have the new 4GB hdd for the PSP in stock and get this.........."uhhhh, they don't MAKE a 4GB hdd for the PSP.......but we should have the new 2GB memory sticks in soon". i tell them hell no, not for the price and that they DO make a hdd for it, but they act like i'm the idiot when i've done my research on the fucking thing, unlike EB's great employees. next up, Circuit City........"a 4GB hdd for the PSP? i don't know, let me check and see"..........(in the background) "they don't make a 4GB psp hdd! only memory sticks....i've never seen it or heard about it"........(guy comes back to the phone) "no we don't, they don't make them.......but we have the memory sticks....".
i hung up wondering if anyone knew what the fuck i was talking about. so i stop at a Gamestop on my way home from work--they tell me they'll have some in within a couple of weeks. after that, i call Best Buy and find out that they have them, but not out on the floor. so i dropped in and snagged one (they only receieved about 3 , the guy said--i saw 2 in the PCB Best Buy).
sorry this shit was long--just wanted to let anyone interested know about it. (i also have the CF reader/movie player for the Nintendo DS, so it's cool to know i can use my old CF's in other places besides my digital camera).
