The recent discussion on the impossible nature of Evolution reminded me that Dark Arms has been in it’s box, uncompleted, for some time now.

I am at the point after Joyce has left.

I have got to the bottom of the final dungeon and faced what I am guessing is the final boss.

I have developed the following weapons to their ultimate state (level 50):
PortectS Gun
ShovedMano
RoundT

I have assigned each of them a different affinity.

I can’t kill that boss!!!!

Is there a specific arm I need to develop???

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thats a bummer, I still have to come that far, haven't played the game in ages... Dunno why I stopped playing it, I should try it again. I was about to meet that girl in her house. Gotta love the split form thing ;)

I guess Metal Slug could help you out, since he has the game and probably played it out. Only problem is he doesnt post too much anymore...

I think it may well be very important as to which weapon you have developed.

The nature of the game allows you to initialise your weapons and redevelop them so they evolve into different things.

If this is necessary I want to know which arm I need to develop, as I don't want to do trial and error - that would take hours and hours!

Dark Arms is pretty odd.

It's more of a shooter than an RPG, where scrolling is 8-way.

There is a linear storyline like an RPG and you get to feed your kills to your strange mutant arm which you are developing as a weapon.

It's quite big, and very nice looking.

The controls are flawed, but you can work round that.

It will cost you much less than either Faselei! or Evolution, and I would reccommend it for any collection.

And apparently it offers so much of a challenge - no one on these boards can complete it...

The challenge is not finding them.

You may have to hold a large fund rasing event, or perhaps sell a kidney to afford the prices tho...

I brought Faselei! for 23 quid when it came out, but i git into a bidding war on ebay for Evolution and ended up paying £60!

But I digress...

Has no-one completed Dark Arms?

I just can't believe it...

I've passed the Dungeon like 4 times... not to mention the times I failed to make it there, or made it there only to be SMASHED by the end guy. The reason I passed it so many times was to CAPTURE the end guy to put into my collection. You have to use the CATCHER ray thing.. the first weapon you get in the whole game. The Catcher ray has to be used as the last shot to kill the dude in order to capture Him for your collection book. And its hard to gauge how much you need to kill him before you use the catcher... so naturally hard.... I forget the names of the weapons (been a while since I played it) but you definitely want the 360 Tenticle, and the CLAW type arm. If you can level those up to MAX level and MAX expirience you will have a DEVISTATING duo.

Don't know what else to say... Dark Arms was a weird yet interesting game....

Oh yea... To find all the characters in the Dungeon you need for your collection you have to make multiple trecks down there, WINNING trecks that is.. because if you die on the way down all captured info is lost. Sucks don't it.

If I remember right, I think there is a way to exit the dungeon before you get to the last character and retain captured essences and info.... ???

I passed all the levels in the game, I got most of the bad guys captured, but I never got EVERY beast for my collection... So I don't know if something special happens if you do....

Now that this has been brought up I will restart my game and try to capture every monster. The only ones I missed my first time around were the creatures unique to the dark carnival thing that only appears once and a few of the bosses.

I DID manage to capture The Arm and The Demon though. :D

moog: There's a weapon called Mano, it's a large crustaceon-like claw that shoots straight out and does big damage, that's the weapon you want to max out for the end. Don't give it any elemental affinity.

The ideal weapons that I always take are:

1) ProtectGun (Get this by developing the handgun/pistol, then evolve it to the Shotgun, then ProtectGun). This is your main weapon for going through the chambers in the final dungeon. Give this the fire affinity.

2) STMano (Basically get the Mano weapon and, well, keep evolving it). Use this to fight the bosses themselves that you run into every few rooms. Don't give it any affinity.

3) Either the Vanisher or the Messer type weapons. The Vanisher is the final evolution the laser weaponry, it's rapid fire, full screen, and you become invisible when you start firing it. The Messer starts out lame, it just makes you shoot forward with a skull shield in front of you. But the final weapon from it is this biological bomb that causes a big explosion and does major damage. Give which ever one you want to use the ice affinity.

Remember the Fat Man enemy gives you thirty points to feed each time you kill one. So just goto Schatten Town and go into that room at the very top of the first area that has two of them. Figure out a pattern for taking them out one at a time quickly and you can just keep leaving and reentering to kill them over and over again.

Anyways happy hunting. :) I was really hoping a much larger version of this game would come out on a nextgen system. Keep the graphics and everything simple and just gives us a few hundred weapon/monster comboes to work with. :D

Gerken: You're right, after each boss encounter there's a room with both a heart icon and a teleporter to take you back to Casso/The Master's house.

I know now witch Boss u mean its the Chained Boss at the and of the Homedungeon ( door in ur house ).
Well he is pretty hard i guess u need a tentacle for awoiding to get hit of his shots.
For the collection i got all monstes and only one mising.... i guess its the chained one at the end.
Anyway u dont need to start from new i think all Monstes in the game are in the final dungeon and some u can only get there.
When i mean i got all i mean i catched all ;)
I think a lot of help is the reversestabber ( that skullshield). With this schield u can suck energy out of ur enemys.

I found out how u can easyly kill the endboss ( Medusa ) at base 50.
Go to the right arm/ snake and stand before it.
With the Las manothing u cann kill him in seconds but u dont need to hurry if u stay right the snake will shoot to the right and miss u every time and that Spears dont get aktivated fom Medusa. Just hold that position and nothing will harm u.

Hope it helps u, i now got all Monstes and need only to complete on weapon i missed.

That's right I meant to say, the arms only have three angles they can attack at, so if you get the positioning right you can find a sweet spot where neither of the arms can touch you. :D

Thank you!

This thread has given me some serious time playing this game recently.

I see now it is not just killing that thing, as I still have weapons and beasts to get in my books.

Truly a brilliant little game really. :)

I guess when you have all the beasts and weapons you can own on 2 player. :D

A couple more Beast Buster related questions if you would guys:

If you choose not to accept the home dungeon challenge when asked, does the game run another ending?

Has anyone tried two player? -Whats the verdict?
