LOL at megalomaniac dissing PVMs
For one thing, rgb it's superior to component in this application. Second, even if using the other inputs pvms offer superior image quality over consumer level sets. The people in this thread are using pvms since it is the best image quality for classic gaming, period.
That's interesting to hear, Skips. I really want to get my hands on one of those $40-50 RGB to component converters and test that on a Wega against my 2530 via RGB. Did your Wega do 480p?
I am curious about the Trinitrons quality compared to PVMs of different models. What model Trinitron were you using Skips? I am using Trinitron 27" KV27FS100 and it looks amazing compared to some other Trinitrons I have tested. All of the sets only got around 2-3 years of use. Also, how many lines of resolution are on them?
I think someone here could get a pretty sweet deal...

Does anyone have an NEC XM-2950G? what are the advantages of it over a PVM-2950Q/QM? how is it different from the XM-2960?
so, is the XM-2950G multisync (15khz/31khz)? can it accept 480p video?NEC XM-2950G is an older version of the XM-2960. Both are 800 line monitors. The XM-2950 has its ports on the sides in the back, the XM-2960 has them all at the bottom middle. The biggest advantage over the PVM-2950 is the fact that it has 200 more lines on it (PVM-2950 is 600) thus making it a MUCH sharper monitor. In addition to it being sharper the scanlines are a bit thicker. All around the NEC XM29 is a better monitor than the PVM-2950 if you have both available to you.
*edit* I forgot the XM29 does not have component video so if you need component the PVM-2950 would be a better choice.
so, are they muiltysync (15khz/31khz)? can they accept 480p video?
