Well then...if this is how you feel then you can't have your cake and eat it too. You can't use statistics for or against your point of view.

How then do we proceed? How do we discuss something of this nature that doesn't directly impact us? Personal experience? If that is the case, these conversations would be far different...and far more useless than they already are.

Data can be manipulated, and statistics are just numbers they don't actually provide context. This is why they are popular since you can manipulate how they are displayed to prove any point of view. Its a misappropriation of science.

Data is only really viable when the exact steps to produce the data are documented, because then you can perform those steps and confirm the results.

You proceed by acknowledging that we know nothing, and just are armchair politicking.
