lol... Porsches and chavs... noice.
I really like the new GT4, but I think I'm going to hold out for the new Z08 when it hits showrooms later this year.
I had some great fun with the Boxsters I've owned, maybe consider an early Cayman for a daily driver? Probably more reliable than an old 944.
Yeah I quite like the Cayman. I’ve read great things about the newer 718 GT4. My problem with newer cars is the more and more driver assists and weight and other bollocks added I fear might take away from the driving experience for me. I like my cars to be a ‘machine’ first, I have a analogue era mindset. But if someone dropped me the keys to say a brand new Taycan - I wouldn’t say no
The Porsche specialist dealer I got my 996 gen 911 from had a newer Cayman in stock for a bit more than my car cost. I asked him what the Caymans are like, and he said ‘to be honest pal, you’ll have more fun in a older 911 than a newer Cayman’ - so, that’s one opinion on them.
A Boxster with the soft roof is a little bit impractical in Scotland - you want a solid roof with a sunroof slot for the 2 weeks a year it doesn’t rain. Cayman makes sense, and some of them are as fast (or faster) as my 996 gen 911.
But from what I’ve read a well serviced 944 should be fine these days as a daily driver. A few years ago they (944s) reached near banger prices and some got neglected by people that wanted the Porsche badge but didn’t know anything about them. I think most those examples are now gone or have been sufficiently brought back up to spec for it not to be much a issue - but I’d probably get a Pre-Purchase-Inspection done by a specialist before buying just to be on the safe side.
