Just finished watching the last episode. I can see where this is going. The greed and the pride will in the end be destructive. A la Scarface. It's going to be interesting to see how Hank will deal with his discovery. Can't wait for the concluding episodes.

Had to chime in as well...started watching it last week on Netflix and the show is fucking awesome. Managed to get to the season 2 finale tonight. On a side note, Netflix just added season 2 of the walking dead so for now...I'm in TV heaven...

For fuck's sake, keep us updated. Love reading from people watching it for the first time.

It has finally drawn me in.

I've been catching up over the last few weeks. I just got to the episode where Hank gets shot. I wasn't blown away until the end of season 2. (Saul Goodman was what did it for me)

Excited to see where this is going now.

Rewatching the series for the second time. Great to experience the character arc all over again.

Really have no idea how they'll decide to wrap this up. There were some rumblings that Vince Gilligan wanted to do either a movie sized ending for the big screens or eventually do a movie showing the characters down the road. That was later debunked as coming from someone else on the set.

Just finished season 3 and watched the first half of "Box Cutter"

Wow.

I love very tight and thematic storytelling. I also love a good slow burn on a story and this show has it nailed down perfectly.

There is so much to love about this show and every character is three dimensional. Everytime I say "That's the moment when Walter White turned REALLY EVIL", they throw somethign else in that makes the previous statement invalid.

Spoiler:
The killing of Gale was amazing. You could see the transformation occur there in body language, then again by his donning of the hat before his meetup with Gus. He's growing more into Heisenberg by the episode.

The recurring themes are subtle and sensible. His breaking bad is believable and almost sympathetic. It's paced perfectly where you almost don't notice. You could see anyone turn like this.

Amazing show. Really amazing. It's right up there with Life on Mars in the pantheon of great episodic television.

Life on Mars (US) or Life on Mars + Ashes to Ashes (UK)?

As we will have to wait a year for the last episodes, do you guys have recommendations on other series which are as good as this one ?

Are you looking for more crime fiction like this or another genre?

You can't go wrong with any of these:
The Wire
Game of Thrones
Luther
Homeland (S1 - haven't watched S2 yet)

Still need to see stuff like Deadwood, The Shield, and Mad Men.

Finished season 3 and into season 4...

The character development is this show is great. So much arrogance, so much hatred and greed. I love the cool/evil concept of Gus. I also love how I'm growing to really dislike Walt. I've always had the feeling in my gut that things were going to end badly for him and at first, it bothered me. Now, as the show progresses, I'm growing apart from him...as if I don't care about his demise anymore. His arrogant, selfish, fuckbag side is taking over and i don't like the "real" Walt...i hope an arrogant asshole like that does have a nasty end. Funny enough, his wife is also rather despicable as well. Her actions have been shitty...I kind of hope she goes down with him and Jr goes to love with the uncle...

At this point in the show, I only feel for Hank and Jesse. Hank, although a douche, seems like a real, likable guy who means well. Jesse also seems like a good guy deep down, a guy who just got caught up in a web of shit and in with some seriously rotten people (Gus, Walt)...

At this point, I'm looking forward to the end of things and I credit that to amazing writing. Normally I don't want to see a show end...

Strike 1000 for the typing on the iPad...LIVE with the uncle...not love...

*EDIT*

4 episodes into season 4 and things are really dragging...borderline boring episodes really. Patiently waiting for the ramp-up.

On a side note, I'm going to buy season 5 from iTunes for $22. If I understand correctly, I'll get the half of the season that has aired and the other half when it's released...

There was a lot of complaining online at the time season 4 was airing at the start that basically echoes what you said. Things get much more interesting, the last 4 episodes of S4 is bar none the most intense/suspenseful stretch of TV i've ever seen.

Season 3, Episode 7 opens with a flashback to where the cousins were kids, playing in Mexico. Tio Salamanca is sitting in a wooden chair with stationary wooden wheels, a neat foreshadowing.

BBC version.. that was, IMO, the greatest TV show ever written.

Please tell me you've watched Ashes to Ashes then. If not, I'm sending you the DVDs.The closure on Gene Hunt was beyond words.

First 8 episodes of Season 5 went up on Netflix a few days ago.
I just marathon-ed them. Seeing these episodes back to back made it more enjoyable than waiting a week. If you have time, give it a chance.
Although I didn't really liked Skyler's character much, watching S5 the second time made me a fan of hers.

I'm trying not to let the hype get to me, but it's not working. Sunday can't come here fast enough! D:

Mandatory watch to get hyped:

I thought the first half of Season 5 was hitting DVD soon, but either way I caught the update when I last checked Netflix. Am I reading into things wrong in the scene with Skyler about to floss her teeth? I can't stand her character but I thing shit is going down.

Breaking Bad has excellent writing, but the episode don't strike a nerve with me the way Luther has. Too bad the latter has bullshit season structure.

According to Amazon the first half of season 5 came out in the beginning of June. 36 bucks or pay to get the streaming from Netflix...hmmm...

I tried watching the show because I heard so many good things about it but I had a really hard time getting into it since my mom had passed away from lung cancer. I decided to finally pick the show up and watch it and over a week and a half I went from the 4th episode to the second episode in the 5th season. Holy shit. Great stuff. I kinda find it sad that they have so much blood and gore and it makes most Hollywood action films like tame in comparison. The only thing is they can't say certain words. Since I've been marathoning the series I think I might wait for all of season 5 to finish before I try to watch it. I don't think I could have waited to find out what happened at the 3rd season's cliffhanger ending.

Was wishing I could go back to Albuquerque for the final episode. Got a friend there who runs a fansite and a new Breaking Bad locations iphone app. Loved that city. There are big viewing parties going on weekly advertised on yelp. Wish the show wasnt ending the same time work's fiscal year was..

As for the final 8.. I'm too excited. I really see a tragic ending coming for the White family. I've re-watched that opening scene from Season 5 a million times now..
New name.. (Using Skyler's maiden name)
Hiding/Starting over in New Hampshire?
Returning to ABQ...
Oversized clothing?
Big fucking gun that is "Not leaving town"
Shit is gonna hit the fan!

I couldn't resist.. Needed to take a photo in the Denny's restroom where the gun transaction went down.

Nice bit of trivia my buddy posted on Instagram. Love all the hidden details in this show.. keeps me rewatching

"Trivia: The watch that Walt receives as a birthday gift from Jesse is a TAG Heuer Monaco (retail price $5,300 USD). Steve McQueen wore this iconic watch in the 1971 movie Le Mans. Steve McQueen died of lung cancer in 1980."
