I think the Shock Troopers games had really cool music. You should check out those.

Before some asshole comes in and tells you to use the search feature, you should play Neo Turf Masters.

There are tons of great Neo games out there, but if you're looking for smooth games with great animation 2 come to mind. Art of Fighting 3 for the animation alone, Mark of the Wolves for the animation and gameplay.

Oh forgot what I was going to write, IMO the Samurai Shodown series is the best and the only reason I am into the neo geo as much as I am.

The first time I heard about MPE I thought "A puzzle game where I have to do math? How the hell is that going to be fun?!?". Then I played it. It's up there with Magical Drop 2 and 3 on the most addicting puzzle game on the Neo scale. Everyone should give MPE a try.

For your MVS cab, I highly recommend:

Diggerman (puzzle)
Double Dragon (fighter)
Legend of Success Joe (boxing)
Master of Shougi (everybody loves chess!)
Ninja Combat (action)
Power Spikes II (volleyball)
Super Sidekicks (the first one)
The Super Spy (first-person action)

and Mahjong Kyoretsuden because it's just really unique, even if you can't read it.

I can't really choose a shooter, but if I had to choose one it would be Zed Blade or Alpha Mission II.

Honestly, from all the similar posts we've had on here over the years, I've never seen anyone recommend these games, so I figured you deserve to know the truth!

Sincerely,

Mikhail

I have to second The Super Spy. There's no other game for any system on the face of the Earth that lets you fight a knife-wieling Ghandi.

Prehistoric Isle 2 is both a MVS-only release and a decent CG shooter worth checking out.

I totally agree. Most of the people who refuse to play it accuse it of either being too cute or, as you stated, have a "problem with math." The game deserves so much more attention.
The music fits the game perfectly too.

There are a few fighters that have nice visuals and clean sound.

- Samurai Shodown 4 has a nice, strong soundtrack and personally I feel it looks the best in the series for having a balanced color palette.

- Mark of the Wolves is probably the most balanced fighter on the hardware, so it's really a game that any 2D fighter fan should try.

- Last Blade/2 has a lot of people that hate the soundtrack, but sound effects and voice clips are still good. There are also very detailed backgrounds, like the bridge stage in the first game or the burning building in 2.

You should also check out the Real Bout games, they're all great examples of graphics and sound.
