Apple looses interest in JVL but keeps up hopes for "a new product line" - could he mean the crystal system?

APPLE & JVL CUT TIES

(posted Saturday, February 16, 2002 -- 8AM)

Apple Industries will no longer serve as the sales and marketing representative for JVL Corp., Apple President Allen Weisberg announced late in the day on Feb. 15. Apple Industries was JVL’s exclusive agent to the U.S. and Mexico since April 2001. “As sometimes happens in business relationships, our goals and concepts for the future marketing of this product have diverged from those envisioned by JVL,” said Weisberg. “Simply stated, we realized we are not going in the same direction and, under the circumstances, concluding our sales and marketing relationship at this point seemed the best decision for all concerned.” Weisberg praised the Apple Industries team for their work on JVL’s behalf. “I am extremely proud of the highly professional performance by the people of Apple Industries on JVL’s behalf, specifically including Vice President Bob Douglas and Vice President/Director of Sales Tim Jackson,” he said. “In less than a year’s time, they have done an outstanding job of raising the industry’s awareness and acceptance of this brand to new levels, as they have consistently done for the range of other product lines represented exclusively by Apple Industries.” Apple execs say they continue to stand behind the JVL product. “We continue to believe the JVL ‘Conquest’ offers a superior game platform that will remain an asset to the route of every operator who owns them,” said Weisberg. “We are confident that JVL’s engineers will continue to bring innovative hardware and software updates to this popular and successful touchscreen countertop game.” Operators should continue to deal with their local authorized distributors for sales and service of JVL products, he added. According to Weisberg, Apple will continue to expand its portfolio of game products from manufacturers worldwide. “At the forthcoming Amusement Showcase International (ASI), we will stage a surprise debut of a new factory product line that Apple Industries will represent exclusively to the American market,” he announced. “Apple Industries will continue to represent multiple product lines including Digital Centre’s smash hit photo novelty imaging system, Dr. Face, which has already proven to be one of the industry’s most successful product debuts.”
