I know this is probably the wrong forum, but I have a collection of Sega Genesis games and was wondering, aside from owning a Neo Pocket, is the Sega Nomad a good system if you already have some Genesis games? I have heard that the screen blurs for the faster games, is that true? Is a Sega Nomad worth the investment as a second handheld system? thanks.

The Nomad is superb!
Much better than Game Gear, less blur than Game Gear, but yes, it is noticable on faster games. Not a problem though, with 500 plus games to choose from!
Colour definition, and resolution is excellent, controls are perfect, sound is great. But the screen lens is very soft, and invariably is scratched on second hand examples, so try to find a new one if you can.
My favourite handheld!

The nomad kicks ass and burns batteries too. You can play all of your favorite Takarta (sp) neo conversions on it. I have one but my exgirlfriend tripped and put a knick in the top of the screen in the middle of the night. Oh well it is an awesome machine but keep it away from girlfriends/boyfriends in the middle of the night.

I managed to mod mine to use 6 cell remote control car batteries. It's really awesome with that. I get great batterylife.

My bro has a nomad, it has really nice graphics. The screen defenetly blurs for the newer games, it isn't bad trough.

Funny thing is my bro ordered it from yahoo and got a scratched screen. But then we saw there was a replacement screen. And the screen was like new. You shoold get it at yahoo auctions.

Altrough many would prefer the Nomad over the NGPC, I prefer the NGPC. Mostly for its gameplay

The hardware quality of the Nomad is not of a very high standard... I had one years ago, but sold it due to issues with display ratio/blur on games like Zero Tolerance. ZT was the first game I tried with the Nomad, and it sucked.

Although I'm/was (...) a Sega fan I wouldn't recommend the thing. Better invest the money in a NGPC.

Nomad is a great system.
But it does drain a lot of battery life.

Another great hanheld is the Turbo Express, which lets you play all the TurboGrafx and PC Engine games.

The good thing about these 2 systems is they are backlit.

Like the others said before me...aside from the awful battery life the Nomad rocks the house. Backlit, great design, AV output, 2nd controller input = F'N awesome...my 2nd favorite handheld system.

jesus christ this topic is old.

the Nomad rocks, plain and simple. IF you use it in the home with a AC adpter, cus it goes through batteries like i go through lucky charms.

Not a half year later and my bro sold it... thought you guys wanted to know :) People shouldn't dig out old topics, there is a ''Post New Topic'' button  And besides the short time batteries last on the Nomad, not all games work on it, most of them do work tough. I think its a great add to one's collection if you have allot of genesis/megadrive games, and want to play it elsewhere.

So how blury does the screen get when there is a lot of movement, like in a sonic game. Also can somebody show me some pictures of how blury the screen gets?

Its a decent system and pretty cheap these days.

As usuall let the games decide , If it has just one game you want to play then its worth owning.

You might look at the Atari Lynx also , there are some great games for it and the hardware is really top notch.

As far as battery life is concerned , who cares ? Most of the time it will probably be used where there is an outlet anyway , just get the ac adapter.

You pay the price for backlighting but its really worth it on a dark room ! or any room for that matter.
