I'd say it's none of my business, but it is an open thread...public and all.

ABC: Honestly, I can see what people are thinking, they're fronting hardware and you're collecting. But at the same time I do see what you're saying about recouping and you should be allowed to. There is a solution though, just use the bookeeping function on the MVS to track the plays. See if you two can agree on a break even point for you and whatever is past that you cats split. I don't know how much it'll cost you to bring it up, from what I'm gathering you're taking a couple machines at least the MVS and a Naomi set-up, right? Something like $200 to rent a Ryder with the miles you'd put on, probably another $50 for gas. So say if you bring in $75 on the MVS then it'd be worth the while, more or less because the GGXX will be hitting heavy. Also there's your set-up fees, whatever they are so you'd have to account for those.

It's just an idea, but if you do wind up bringing an MVS, I'd be willing to bet that an empty machine won't bring in too much...better something than nothing.

Honestly, unless they have Super Dodge Ball, KoF2K1 or anything that will really draw I don't see you guys getting burried in a stack of coins.

But it'd be a cool thing to do, you know? Personally I'd hook you up just knowing that if something did happen and all of a sudden it was a hot item, I wouldn't be getting screwed.

GGXX would probably be your money maker and will most likely make the trip worth it.

Good luck.

Dude, you're a dumbass.

It's great that you want to bring a Neo Geo System - Excellent.

It's great that you want to share the Neo Geo experience with others - Commendable.

It's great that you want to pay your own money to rent a truck and haul a big huge cabinet into an entire free play gaming hall/room for others to play and pay 25 cents - Oh wait, no it's not.

The point of the game rooms is for whatever sponser(s) wants to pay for the entire setup so people can come and go as they please and readily play what is available. Yeah, and maybe get some possible name branding recognition in the process. Whatever. The Convention floor is where the money is made. The rest is for fun. And yes, a few individuals who want to bring their system and/or games for other to enjoy, kick back, and have some fun.

Seriously man, if you're gonna charge for the arcade cabinet while everything else in the ENTIRE ROOM is free, you're missing the point of the gathering. You're also obviously foolish if you think you're gonna get close to breaking even, especially considering the obvious notion to everyone else here in the forums that - pretty much - NO ONE is going to pay to play when you don't set it on free play. There gonna say... "Hey cool! A Neo Geo! Hey... I... I have to pay? Fuck that! Oh well, that's neato, eh? Let's go play something Chuck!" Moving on...

Oh yeah, since you haven't heard, lemme help ya out. Here's the latest: SNK made this smaller version of the cabinet. It's light, easy to move, and fits rather well in a nice backpack or carrybag with a couple of games and sticks. Perhaps you should try bringing a CONSOLE to the CONSOLE gaming room. Just a thought. I know you couldn't obviously formulate this solution on that low a level of intelligence. Guess it sucks not having an IQ higher than your shoe size. All I know is that when I enter the room and I see that NG cabinet there, I'm gonna laugh when I see the nice happy flashing "Insert coin" text across the screen.

A great idea clown man... just not quite on the mark... <img src="graemlins/annoyed.gif" border="0" alt="[Annoyed]" />

What,

Come on you have to have Chick Games, Neo Mr. Do, Puzzle bobble, Zupapa ;) I have SDB as well as 80 other NGM's but Honestly though, I could care less about the money. However I Don't like it when people rant on Me and call me Bitchy, I also think that if you want someone to bring something to make Money on it is proper to offer some sort of compensation. After all the board and games are not free either, although I relize it does not recieve as much ware and tear ;)

As I did at Animefest and Bonuskun did at Usicon and Akon last year, the plan was to bring my Neo anyway and a few games so it not a big deal for me to carry a few extra games and a 2 Slot. I will propably hook up with people on the board here and whoever else to play Neo, Watch Anime, Dunk the Blonde Girls head in water. You know the fun stuff.

However I am not going to be arriving in Dallas until Friday Night and will be returning to Houston Midday Sunday so the timing does not sound like it is going work out.

The gameroom is charging people now?

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahaa Oh oh I'm ok now. That just nails it for me. I'm now totally happy I have nothing to do with the console gaming room.

Charging people. Oh mi god. Where the fuck did someone fart that idea out?

There's no point in doing something if you can't do it right.

That pretty much explains the whole of A-Kon. Pointless.

Let the mainstream congoers decide what floats their boat. If they take to the pay-for-play DDR room, and the ShitStop-ized console gaming room, then there's nothing anyone can do about it. It's time to wait and see if any complaints arise from this "corporate" treatment.

I vote you stay at the mall, clown. Don't make A-Kon more cluttered than it already is (or risk getting caught in the fire-code-breaking mob). Don't subject your cabinets to the abuse, either. Your arcade's a stone's throw away. People can call a cab, rent a car, or whatever suits their fancy. And then you'll turn a profit.

Not that it matters. Con's in a week. Most everything's set in stone now anyway.

And while I'm here...

...regarding running fighting games on Neo Candy cabinets...

Neo Candies do not come with 8-way fighting game mainguides or subguides. The same goes for any Japanese cabinet. They're not supposed to come with them, because any game besides a fighter doesn't really require it. But that doesn't excuse playing KOF, GGXX, or CVS2 on a cabinet that's not up to Japanese fighting game spec. It makes the throw characters somewhat useless, and it hinders execution. Running a tournament on such controls is even more of a crime.

On that note, I'm tired of half-assed arcades. I don't see the purpose in supporting them if they can't do things right. That category holds U.S. arcades AND pseudo-Japanese arcades that don't know what the hell they are doing. In this day and age, I think it's inexcusable.

Again...if you can't do something right, don't do anything at all.
