I doubt anyone here has actually played the game in arcades, for all you know it could be the worst Treasure game ever made, extremely short, or anythings possible. Treasure Makes bad games too (McDonalds).

sorry Drift King EX,but i canot agree on this with some of your points !!

McDonalds was a great game !
even when made for the McDonalds company,it was one of the really first treasure games and as a new company they needed the cash !
but besides that, the gameplay is cool and especialy in the higher levels the game shows what it gots !!

and ikaruga rocks !!

i do not know how many people her have played it,but i have !!

and i think it's one of the best shooters ever !
great gameplay with the color change system, gives them all some tactic !

level design is one of the best !
the color system get used extremly,i have come only to level 4 but...damn..this game becomes hard !
and not only that...alot of opsticals in your way, great !

music,if someone liked the radiant silvergun soundtrack...you will love this one !

i realy hope it comes out,it will became a legend like the rs !!

i love my dreamcast and of course the games that have been here mention !

and this one...would be great !!

otherwise...naomi board !!!
:)

Peace !!!!!!

It's a NAOMI based shooter...from what I gather its the closest thing to a Radiant Silvergun sequel we're going to get. From reviews, it's a spectacular...amazing game. Like Drift King assumed, I never played it; but word on the streets is...its just beautiful. It's also made by Treasure...in case you haven't picked that up.

It's got [what i consider] innovative shield system, where enemies shoot projectiles that're either red or black....depending on the color of your shield [which you can change at any time] you can absorb those shots. So, it keeps you on your feet.

Lots of people know way more about this than me...so chime in!

peace,

I thought...everyone knew about it <img src="graemlins/eek2.gif" border="0" alt="[Eek 2]" /> Anyway, Ikaruga is the prequel/sequel/whatever...it's a shooter made by Treasure and is being played on the Naomi board. IMO it is not a pre/sequel because it uses a black/white...energy-capture-weapon system (think Mars Matrix and throw in Silouette Mirage (spelling?)...). Although it does use the same 2D/3D background scaling effects found in Radiant Silvergun the story (not sure?) has nothing to do with RS. Supposedly Ikaruga is the RS of the DC = game'n nirvana. Anyone, please fill in the blanks or correct me if I'm wrong :D

Taken from madman's cafe: <a href="http://www.mmcafe.com" target="_blank">Madman</a>

"Namae No Nai Heya) Treasure Co. has made an official announcement through Softbank Publishing's "Dreamcast Magazine" of their decision to release a DreamCast port of their arcade shooting game, Ikaruga.

Originally released for the Sega Naomi system, Ikaruga is currently 99% complete for port to the Dreamcast. Commented by Treasure president Masahito Maekawa, a "Prototype game" is included as a bonus in the DC port, playable by beating the game without any continues.

Ikaruga for the Sega Dreamcast, is scheduled for release in September 5th, priced 6800 Yen. For images of the article, check Namae No Nai Heya's top section."

This is looking better and better. If you check the source site's section, there is a pic of the magazine interviewing Treasure's top dog.

I wish I could read more of the article but the print is too small and the pic is blurry. They are indeed interviewing MaeKawa though. The tagline at the bottom says "Why is Ikaruaga now coming out on the DC? As for that..." If someone has this magazine and can get me a high quality scan so I could see all the text, I could tell everyone what it says. Like I said, I didn't even know Dorimaga was still in print.

Thanks, but still not readable. I am going to PM that guy RB Jake becasue I think he is in Japan right now. If he can get the mag, he wouldn't even have to bother sending me a scan, he could translate it himself.

Cool, it sounds (and looks, I mean god those screen shots are amazing!) like a good game. I never played Radient Silvergun before, all I know is that it's some way overpriced Saturn game.

I may just have to pick this one up.

And BTW, I have to agree w/ DKEX, there is something on DC for anyone, especially people who like the Neo Geo.

Peace

Well, I just downloaded the new vid from Tresure's site here: <a href="http://www.treasure-inc.co.jp/product/ikaruga/dl2.html" target="_blank">Ikaruga Vid</a>
It is video of stage 2 and let me say I am even more psyched. After watching the first vid, I thought it looked too easy. After watching this one I realize that whoever is playing it is making it LOOK easy. Treasure's server must be really bogged right now because I am on a dedicated high speed line at work and it still took me danm near half an hour to d/l it. If you can get it though, it is incredible.

It doesn't matter if you have my taste in games, if owning Ikaruga or not is the breaking point of you keeping or selling your DC, just sell it now. Cause damn the DC has one of the best lineups of any system ever.

Dude! I hope this is the REAL release date this time! Though I'm not going to be breaking out the champagne till I get an e-mail from Treasure themselves about the REAL release date. When I do though, I'll put it on preorder. Then it's going to be mine!!! ALL MINE!!! MUAHAHAHAHHAHA! *clears throat* Sorry...

OMFG! That is beautiful! Even better to have the video of whole stage, and from a DVF instead of a camcorder pointed at a monitor in an arcade!

If anyone wants the video and is unable to connect to the server, let me know and I can send it to you via ICQ or AIM.
