I've noticed my English AES homecart "Riding Hero", bought from the USA, says at the insert: "This product can only be used on the Neo-Geo Rental System".

Was the Neo-Geo launched in the USA as a Rental system too?


Edit: I would like to suggest too if title of this thread might be modified to better clarify what it talks about.

Can't seem to find my receipts unfortunately I know I bought my Neo Geo during my senior year of high school. I graduated in 1991, so I figured I got it in 1990. I guess at bought it at the end vs the beginning of the school year. Either that or the time line is off, and they released it at the end of 1990. I'm guessing it's my memory that is flawed.

I do keep just about everything though. Below are the catalogs and advertisements that SNK mailed me back in the early 90's.
