    AES troubleshooting

Two bits are high when they shouldn't be, probably floating because the trace are rotten, or shorted to the one next to it Hex 4040 0100 0000 0100 0000 Hex C0C0 1100 0000 1100 0000 Check the traces to the VRAM and for shorts between the VRAM data lanes Neo geo PCBs tend to rott, a full clean...

    PCM Sound & Stability Fixes Multicarts - 120 in 1, 138 in 1, 161 in 1 and others.

The new revs ain't missing caps IME, what fixed it for me was resoldering the flash memory connections, see my post above https://www.neo-geo.com/forums/index.php?threads/pcm-sound-stability-fixes-multicarts-120-in-1-138-in-1-161-in-1-and-others.242857/page-13#post-4416074

    Maintenance mvs motherboard and games

    1. remove the battery, NiCd will leak or already have leaked, destroying traces in the process, there is tutorials for battery mods 2. dishwasher is fine, but I only used that for multiple boards, single boards I wash by hand, like dish, IPA 99% afterwards will clean/dry it, drying in the oven...

NGCD Front Loader No Video or Sound

The NeoGeo CD needs 5.5V and 10V to operate, 5.0V sharp won't do. edit: you had a hot cap, missed that part edit 2: here is the schematics of that power board

CRD0 is for memcard selection, what MVS are you fixing?

Diode Identification on Neo Geo CD Top Loader

you can find pictures of the NGCD PCBs here: https://www.neogeocdworld.info/html/fiche/cartes.htm check the JMX battery mod for the MV1AX, seems to be the same components https://www.jamma-nation-x.com/ so 4 components are marked D1-D4, D1 has 3 pins, D4 is the biggest, looks very similar to...

    AES Mainboard Screws

the top two are the ones used also for the mainboard IIRC https://www.arcade-projects.com/threads/neo-geo-home-system-shell-screw-size-type-request.26960/#post-399026 90s plastic screws, lots of consoles used the same ones, ie. MegaDrive Model 1 etc. NeoGeo uses zinc plated screws, thats why...

    MV4 repair attempt / PRO-B0 potentially dead

Unibios 4 will not work on most multi slots perfectly, no sound on the second slot in a two slot etc You got unibios 3.3 or an original? Try that.

    MV4 repair attempt / PRO-B0 potentially dead

Cheapest MVS with replacement parts is the MV1 and MV1-1, they also have the first chipset, the PCB is huge. You should get changing graphics problems with changes in temps on the B0 ;)

Neo geo aes nec Video failure

thats the test circuit, 100uF - 1000uF can be used IIRC (I think that was for the TH7374 but should be the same for CXA), that why the AES has 100uF, its limit by space, bigger capacity -> bigger caps but yeah, 470uF is the middle value there and usually the right one, so if you can find 470uF...

    Rengual's faulty MV4-FS & MV4-F

thats a well known problem first thing is always: REMOVE THE OLD BATTERY ASAP don't wait for it to leak and damage the PCB (lots of times FUBAR) no exceptions, nothing killed more MVS than the batteries, they'll leak once its out, clean up the whole area, that includes the underside (remove...

    Rengual's faulty MV4-FS & MV4-F

The MV4-FS has lots of ASIC for buffering and multiplexing on the top board. I had really weird errors similar to the ones shown on a MV4-FS caused by multiple faulty NEO-244 (some inputs/outputs were faulty, sometimes more than half of them), and those are used for buffering...

    Problem with motherboard mvs1f

AFAIK the NeoGeo doesn't calculate zoom on sprites, instead it uses a lookup table which is in the L0 ROM. https://wiki.neogeodev.org/index.php?title=L0_ROM I'd focus on that, check all traces/connections etc., replace it if everything checks out.

Neo Geo AES US Console - Small Black Pixels

I had similar experiences with 5V AES when it comes to the PSU and 161-in-1 carts, the regulation is relatively "far away" from the console, they can be finicky because of that, if the voltage at the IC drops below 4.8V, funky stuff happens. The 9V unit have an advantage here, the regulator is...
