Reminded me a bit of Red earth but looks like it was made for young kids, that meow noise is in some of the metal slug music themes.

It just seems so silly to have something sitting on a shelf not doing anything for anyone. No play, no way. But whatever.

99% of this site just read this and thinks you're trolling them.

hahaha

I was in Japan last week and went to the Mandarake that has this. I think their copy is probably legit. Nicely hand drawn art, maybe an in house mockup. Whether their copy works or not we'll never know. Don't think there is any chance they'd sell it.

Which Mandarake was it? Nakano?

man that was disapointing it's horrible.

I would of been happier this video never released and all we had were the screenshots.

I don't even want to play this game, let alone purchase it so it can collect dust with the rest of my collection.

Yeah, that looks pretty awful for a Neo-Geo title... looks like a naff Mega Drive game.

Looks like someone made the right call by canning that shit.

Not bad for 95.

Wow! It looks pretty neat to me. If either werejag or Xian Xi were to make an SNK Neo•Geo MVS reproduction cartridge of this like they did with "Ghostlop" and "Ironclad / Chotetsu Bri'kingerand," I'd definitely buy one.

I hope they dumped it for themselves, you don't want it to sit and then the roms go bad or get bit rot.

I'm curious of their "I don't wanna sell it" price. Not that I could ever afford it or even be willing to spend a lot on this game. Still looks like fun though.

I'm not sure about the history of Mandarake or if there is one owner or if its a franchise type of thing. What we do know is that its a hugely popular chain of stores. If there is one main owner I assume he is pretty wealthy. Any amount offered probably wouldn't be considered.

That may be true, but it just makes no sense to me.

If you own this game with ZERO intent to sell it at "any amount," why the hell is it stored in the window of a game shop? Just so you can get your kicks showing it off to people? With this particular game, there have been emulated screenshots for years, and now VIDEOS which prove that this game is dumped, somewhere. There may be more content for this game out there at this point than any other undumped Neo proto, and I bet the fact it is dumped has been common knowledge in Japan much longer than it has at this site. That cartridge in the window, whether it is a real genuine proto, or even a copy of a proto, assuming it is an actual copy of Warlocks, is a ticking time bomb. It's just a matter of time before someone finds the ROM files somewhere and it is publicly released, making that cartridge basically worthless. I can't imagine the owner of the game doesn't understand that, and if he doesn't, he is an absolute fool. I don't care how rich you are, that game could command thousands now, but it won't forever, and to ignore that just to keep it in some window forever makes no sense.

Just my 2 cents.

One more quick thought - I have always personally thought that the attitude of "its not for sale" that comes out of Japan, when it comes to any protos that have popped up over the years over there, is probably more of a cultural function than a real attitude on the part of the seller that the games cannot be sold. Maybe if a known Japanese collector walked into that store he would get a totally different story.

All we have is speculation.

What makes common sense to us, may not be to others. He may not give two shits if the game dies, its obviously dumped. Maybe its a pride thing, a "Look what I have" thing. The majority of the game shops I went to all had "Not For Sale" cases with extremely rare items. I think its safe to say that not only are these guys game sellers, but they are also collectors.

Like you, I assume us westerners probably have zero chance at even coming close to buying Mandarake's copy. I'm sure all these collectors and game shop owners know each other. To get close to purchasing this it would probably have to be a friend of a friend. I personally don't see this thing ever leaving Madarake. So all we can do is look at the pics, bitch and moan about what should be done. The unfortunate reality is, what we want obviously isn't what they want. So why bitch about it?

Send them a porno where the pubes aren't pixelized out. It will throw the whole country into disarray.

As probably already mentioned, the label says "sample" and the tag "not for sale software"

For the records, when I've been there, I asked to check a couple of games below, so they had to move the cart, it was definitively not empty and connectors where in there.
