That's definitely the old mod, aside from the different color palette you can also see the jailbars that you get with that mod.Was the previous pic an older playchoice mod?
Skips,
Yes my NES has a PC 10 RGB mod. Now the Mario 3 screenshot I put up is NOT on my monitor. It was captures on my Holo3dgraph RGB capture card, so it does not produce scanlines. I don't know why people believe it looks so terrible.
I will probably have to sell my XC-3730C 37" RGB/VGA monitor since I will be moving from New Mexico to Florida

Oh yah the two consoles i play the most are super nes and n64 BTW
Oh they're around, you just gotta be patient. I bought 2 PVM's off CL here in Vancouver, one in East Van the other on the West side (a 14" for $20 and a 20" for $40) not too long ago. They pop up every so often, so my advice is to keep checking.I would have loved to buy locally but it seems that where im from (BC, Canada) there are legitimately no pvms anywhere. Even in Vancouver (huge movie/film industry there) there is only one 8" monitor up on craigslist which i find to be pretty hard to believe.
Well this depends on what PVM/BVM you eventually get. You'll need to know what connections the RGB lines have. For instance, my 14" has BNC inputs for RGB, whereas my 20" has 25pin d-sub input. The reason i joined this thread is to get some advice on the RGB cables/switch boxes that il need to get a good picture out of this thing (im a noobie when it comes to cables and tv electronics...). Iv read a few guides and based off what they said ordered two cables from ebay: a japanese super famicon 21 RGB scart cable (Oh yah the two consoles i play the most are super nes and n64 BTW) and a Female RGB21 to 4x BNC + audio cable. Hopefully i didnt waste my money on those guys, is there anything els i need? Im going to be ordering both an rgb modded n64 and super nes soon off ebay aswell but for now i have s-video for my current consoles. Thanks a bunch.
I just figured out the same thing. When I plugged my NES into my PVM it looked so bad I was horrified. The 358 Trap button (what is that BTW?) makes it look a lot better, but it's still pretty crappy compared to how everything else looks on it. Some games look better than others do for some reason (SMB looks god awful while Castlevania looks good).First post here, I'm trying to fine tune my PVM this week and give it some attention. I just found that I could turn 358Trap Filter on which vastly improves NES on it (I previously couldn't use it since it looked so bad).

Here is some porn for Drakon (the first picture at least). S-Video and RGB on my PVM-20L5. You need to view the full pic for it to look really good, its a really high resolution picture.
It's the equivalent of a comb filter on a regular set from what I can gather, it's made it bearable to play NES on the PVM but I might stick to the gxtv for that job. I haven't tried SMB3 on it yet but Castlevania and Megaman 2 look pretty great (especially comparatively sans 358 Trap).
I know a guy who will do it for $200 including the board. He goes by the name Yurkie over on AtariAge (he did my N64 and it looks awesome).Did you do the mod yourself? I've got an extra NES laying around that I'd like to RGB, if not is there a person you'd recommend for commissioning the mod?

Yes I did the mod myself however I am currently only offering services to people that have been around on this site for a bit, so pretty much only the Neo-Geo.com regulars. I am actually about to do this mod to an original famicom

$200 is really steep for an NESRGB install (even including the board), I've done them for $35 on a couple of AV Famicoms. I think Jason over at Game-Tech.us does them for a similar price as well.I know a guy who will do it for $200 including the board.
