Can anyone lend an assist?

I've got 2i cart and a dead 3s setup.

right now, I'm loading 2i onto the dead 3s board as that appears to be the "starting point".

I have my 3s for 2i CD's burnt. I also have spare flash to use.

My understanding is this:

I place the new CD's in my rig. Go to the test menu, select update.

What RAM configuration/swapping do I need to do at this point?

2nd Impact doesn't work yet. Can't use a 2I cart or play 2I using a different cart.

I have a question about converting Jojo 1 to Jojo2 (bizarre adventure HFTF)

EXAMPLE 1) if we want to play JOJOBA on a JOJO cartridge, the 1st CD will have correct files 10,20,30,31,40 and
41 (meaning SIMMS 1,2,3 and 4).
From the 2nd CD only interest us the files 50 and 51 which will be located in position of 30 and 31 (SIMM 3).

To make it work, press service button, select UPDATE ALL FROM MENU, install first CD2 (will update SIMM3)
replace SIMM3 with an new one, update using CD1 and place the SIMM3 extracted in the 1st update
into position SIMM5.
Notice that in both updates we should keep something in SIMM5, for the BIOS to let us upgrade.

So I get the clean ISO image of whatever version is, the game I want to convert to (Jojo BA), and use the program to make two CDs.

I run CD2 and update all from the test menu which updates SIMM 3. I power down the CPS3 before removing SIMM 3, and put that SIMM 3 extracted into SIMM 5.

I then run my extra 128MB SIMM into SIMM 3. I put in CD1, and update and I should be good to go.

Is this the right order? I notice he doesn't say to power off the motherboard before removing the ram, which seems weird.

I think it's just obvious that you need to power down before removing ram... if you don't you will cause the thing to crash anyways.

From my experience when writing tutorials for arcade stuff, you really have to "dumb it down" because not everyone knows basics when diving in to the unknown. Just like on my site I have to constantly append tutorials when I get emails with questions.

The dumb it down is in reference to my last job.

Working for an international conferencing company. Problem was the company was trying to save money on workforce so they found a state program that would let you hire/use welfare mom's that need to get off welfare because of new requirements to get a check.

The dumb part is that the company never took my suggestion to use an aptitude test to see how smart they were before we "hired" them. I spent almost 2 hours trying to explain to one girl the differences between they're, there and their. It looked like her head was going to explode. The CEO was getting irritated by her improper use of each word so the CEO asked me to teach her. Ugh.

The tutorials had to be so dumbed down to the point where I had to include previous lessons of basic computer knowledge like how to turn the computer on and how to use a mouse as well as how to turn a monitor on and off. I had to write all the tutorials for that company when they went the cheap route.

Dumbest tutorial I've written? "How to start Internet Explorer", seriously.

I hear ya, my degree in IT is much the same way.

People just refuse to learn especially when it comes to computers.

You can only do so much with illiterate people who refuse to learn. It troubles me because knowing how to open internet explorer is a no brainer, the shortcut is usually on the desktop. If it isn't on the desktop, it should be on the start menu.

Ever try to find a file on someone's computer and they haven't organized it worth crap? It is a headache sometimes.

Oh man mouse training I can't believe people need training in that.


I always get a chuckle when someone ask "what is the any key?"

Funny thing was IE shortcuts were on the desktop, in the start menu and on the task bar. When I got the email for the tut request I was like "Is this for real?".

So I burn both CDs. In bank 3-5 are 128MB SIMMS. I first rewrite with CD2, then power down remove SIMM 3, put it in Simm 5, put Simm 5 in SIMM3.

I then power on and rewrite using CD1.

When JOJO Heritage for the future/bizarre adventure loads the screen is lacking color, it is white and I can't move but I do know itis heritage for the future.

Are my CDS bad? Is my ram configuration wrong?

The problem is you put simm 5 in slot 5 for the second flash (cd1). That overwrote it with junk, You need a dummy 32mbit (or any size) to put in slot 5 for the second flash. then put the 128 mbit simm 5 in after and your good:

I believe that what mesmer has stated is correct, please follow his advice. If you're still having problems afterwards, then I will investigate further.

You do indeed need a dummy SIMM when flashing "up" to a game which uses more SIMMs than the original cart you are using, i.e. all two CD flashes will require a dummy SIMM.

See dark64s instructions are vague as to what you should be exactly doing. I am doing this right now, I'll let you know how it turns out.

Ok got it to work. Thanks everyone for the help.

You need the dummy 32MB/64MB ram in SIMM 5 for both updates or else it won't let you get to the bios when you need to install the cd1.

1.)Make Sure Slot 3-4 are 128MB SIMM, Slot 5 is 32MB or 64MB

2.)Update all from menu by using CD2

3.)Power down CPS3, remove SIMM 3 and put it aside. Put in a new 128MB SIMM into SIMM 3

4.)Update with CD1 then power down

5.)Remove SIMM 5 32MB and replace with the SIMM 3 in step 3 we put aside and power on

Quick Question. I have a 3rd Strike Asian kit that already uses a bootleg CD. I just need to burn the Region Force Disc to make it become USA and then do rewrite game data then rewrite all using that Region Force Disc? Or do I need to rewrite game data with the Region Force Disc and then burn a copy of SF3 3rd Strike USA Clean ISO and put that in for the rewrite all?
