Keep in mind that this is a scan of a fax, of a fax. No color, and poor resolution as compared with what the finished product will look like, but it confirms the changes that the fans have requested.

- Display of MEG count (a big 646 MEGS for Matrimelee)
- Display of game logo on spine instead of text
- Removed "NTSC only" display

I personally think this is the best official insert design since SNK of Japan's restructure. Magical Drop 3 insert comes to mind, and no doubt that this is a beautifully designed English version insert. I'm quite pleased and I hope you are too.

A full color, high resolution pic of the finished insert will be displayed publicly asap.

Any chance you can have them redo Metal Slug 4 and Rage of the Dragons while they're at it? wink I'll buy a second copy each in that case. loco

Ha, ha! I love it. Even says "Battle Action Game."

The cover is a little static (not a lot going on) but Last Blade 2 was very similar, if not more so. Lots of blank space.

Looks cool though. Fabulous that the Marquee title is on the spine.

Nice that our opinions were seen as valuable and, ultimately, contributed to the final design.

conceptually it's great. Needs a little more on the front of the cover, like perhaps... I don't know, something odd. Something not so... white.

white space is bad.

I like it, even though the front isn't very 'busy' with a lot of detail.

What really got my attention was the MEG count, I nearly fell out of my chair. eek!

Ah, I can't wait to buy this game on release...

It looks great, just needs something like color or more characters to fill in that negative space on the cover, and its set.

Everything else looks just fine to me.

Wow, that's nice. Return of the meg count is nice to see as well, for collectors of US AES. Nice to know someone is listening.

Looks nice but I hope they throw some color on the background.

*wakes back up, hugs Shawn and then all of the artists at playmore*

I have to say that seing this brings a tear to my eye.
few pointers though:

-the artwork used for the MVS posters and flyers was just toooooo good not to use on the front of the indert. they need to nix that pic currently on the front A.S.A.P.

- whats with the bar across the bottom of the entire insert?

- can we get the grey borders back (spine and front) to match the other neo carts. getting kind of sick of this bland white stuff.

-why dont they put the logo thats on the front of the insert on the spine. that one looks much better in my opinion.

- lastly, I hope they collor the meg box the some color they do the genre stripes, just as other releases were done). they shopuld also drop the meg count box on the soine down a little bit so it will match up with the ones on our other carts (shawn, you think you could provide them with some measurements, just for the sake of it)

sorry to nit pick, but I love the fact that my english carts look uniformed. my goal/dream is that they do the U.S. home release of svc just like MOTW and other SNK releases (all of the layyout standards, etc). seeing that would get
me all teary eyed in a matter of seconds.
many people say "it's there product and they can make it however they want" and i agree, BUT, they do make these games in order to SELL them and since we are buyers who pay them a VERY handsome $325 a pop I do not think most of what we ask for is that outrageouse.
so far though, I am impressed with playmore on this one.

My guess is the cover will be the same for the Japanese release as well, I think they were really obliging in putting the Meg Counts back on for the English version. I also think the flyer picture is really nice, but I can imagine it will look really tiny and there will be a lot of resolution when squeezed onto the tiny space of the NGH clamshell. I think this was a judicious decision in using the picture from their wallpaper.

About color in the background, remember, this is a scan of a fax, of a fax. The background could be yellow, green, or the preferred grey for all we know, and we will find out soon enough. Even if the background is white, it would still look great. However, Orpheus brings up a good point to request grey.

The art they chose to use for the front cover is awesome, IMO. I really like the cutesy Japanese style art, and the little mosquito like panda creature they are pampering really tops it off nicely. However, the art on the posters and flyers is also very impressive and would best be used for the cart sticker and manual. Either would work well, just a matter of preference.

>> - whats with the black bar across the bottom of the entire insert?

Again, the bar you speak of may not even be black and the background may not be white. This is a scan of a fax, of a fax. Black and white only for faxes you see.

yup, my bad. realised that after I posted.
as far as the art on the front, it's actually really good. it's just that the quality of the art used for the posters and flyers blew me away. it feature the whole cast of characters and would showcase the game even better.
either way, GREAT ART!

I assumed it would be white because that's the background of the poster that image is shown on in the arcadia magazine (inside and cover).

Thanks for posting the fax, Shawn! Any chance you could transcribe the text on the back cover for us? The text at the top is clear enough, but the font used inside the ring of character portraits (as well as in the lower-left starburst) is just a little too small to make out. Thanks again!

The middle text is in cursive, so it’s hard to make out. We will just have to wait for the full color high resolution version. The fax is covered in Japanese characters around the borders, probably info concerning the design work. The Japanese text was cropped out of the fax for potentially confidential reasons.

Playmore just scored a point in my book.

Good job. Listening to the fans is what the Neo-Geo is all about.
