Continued from the Big Bear MVS Battery Thread.

You'd better change or remove that old Ni-Cd battery reminder

Well aint that a kick in the nuts..

After last night, thinking about this battery issue and then reading this thread this morning..I went and turned on all my MVS cabs....The last one to turn on was the 2 slot woody in my bedroom..It hasn't been turned on in over a month..
I flip it on and BAM the screen is all fuzzy with horizontal lines...It won't go into cross hatch via the service switch or with the carts out.

the screen looks the same no matter with the carts in or out..With the harness off i get a blue screen so the monitor is fine..I think..(my first thought)

I took a voltage reading from the harness and it sems to be reading below 5 volts so hopefully the power supply took a dump..
I'm going to attempt to raise the voltage in a a bit.(watching my newborn Son)
.Was thinking maybe I should pull the board out and try it in another cab first.(?)

..
I was considering selling the cab since I don't use it but this just puts the nail in it now..

UPDATED:
I raised the Voltage and no change..Weirdly the fan runs faster as I raise the voltage vice versa.
So I removed the board, inspected the battery and it's ok..

I tried the board in another cab and it's fine..

So it's not the board nor,battery..

Here's what I get onscreen..

Where to check Next?
Could this actually be a monitor ussue then..?

Looks like a horizontal sync issue on the monitor.

Swap the board to another cabinet to test it.

I tested the board in another cab and the board works fine..

..I'm actually going to put the board back in the problematic cab right now and see if I get the MVS jingle upon crediting the cab..

Any pots to adjust to fix the horizontal sync issue?

:loco: ..I put the board back in..and now the cab is ok..everything is working..the monitor came up normal..it comes on real fast.

What the heck went on..:conf:

Is the something I should look into...(Note the monitor is fairly new..Or rather when I got the cab years ago it came with a brand new installed monitor...
Through the years this cab hasn't got much use though..

That's weird. I don't know what to say bro...not a huge monitor tech. IMO, go to killercabs and talk with grantspain. He's the most knowledgable monitor tech person I know online. No offense to anyone else.

just like channelmaniac said, it seems to be a sync problem.

I had pretty much the same screen when I tried to connect my MV-2F to a commodore monitor, and ended up finding out sync was not making a proper contact.

UPDATE:

I've been using the Cab say once or twice a week now and it's been fine..

This morning I go to show my nephew The Super Spy game, flip it on and I got the fuzzy screen again..

Removed the harness from the board and the screen comes up blank,white..but no fuzz.

Frustrated:
I put the harness back on,flipped on the Cab..Same Fuzz,,

I bumped the "Monitor Control Pot Adjustment Board"that's attached inside the cab on the right side and the screen cleared up..
Bumped it again and it went fuzzy

..
I found the Culprit..

I believe that the plug going into that tiny adjustment board isn't making great contact and causing the problem..If I touch the plug the monitor flickers and goes fuzzy vice versa..
So I have to pull it out and take a look at it..
