hi, ive got a problem getting anything but noise from pulstar and blazing star, have tested both in a 1-slot and they work fine, i think it might be the psu thats underpowered, but if that is the case, how come all my other games work fine :/

edit: i just measured the +5v with my dmm and it reads... 4.66v:oh_no:

Six slots are famous for needing a bit higher voltage than the rest. It appears you need an adjustable power supply or a different board.

ATX power supplies are unadjustable. They feature tracking feedback that keeps the voltage outputs constant. If your voltage levels are low on the 5v line then you have a bad power supply.

they are not entirely unadjustable ;)
anyway, ran out of potentiometer @ 4,78v :(

edit: didnt resolve the sound issue with pulstar or blazing star, but it did remove the occasional gfx corruption :)

edit2: if someone could tell me where i could get a proper psu for a reasonable price in denmark or the uk i would be thankful

Any computer PSU rated to work with a Pentium 4 should work just fine. Usually they are 150 watt PSUs.

Wow... I hadn't seen a 150 watt power supply since the old Pentium II days.

Haha, yeah. I forgot to mention 150 watts for the voltages needed. My old Athlon was 450 I believe.

It's entirely possible that his ATX supply is giving him troubles for not having a sufficient load on the 3.3v power connections.

Yeah, I've mentioned it before... can't remember it was here or over on the newlifegames.net gaming forum.

I learned it the hard way. I had an old surplus TI-99/4a power supply from Radio Shack when I was a kid. I hooked it up and promply had it self destruct right in front of me.

Some switching power supplies just don't like being run with no load on the high current outputs.
