I loved this game for many years...& i still vote the MD vers as the best incarnation yet...i always wanted the pcb...but never could afford it & it was rare.
So only now have i just picked up the pcb..:D ...& last night played for hours...it's still a great game...top stuff, but i noticed..whilst accending vertical buildings etc & if your climbing on the left-side & you move your character to the right without jumping...there is a tiny black square..just above right of strider..!?..is that normal??...you don't notice it on black backgrounds etc...
Btw..a good place to see it is just after you kill the steel ape & you ascend the airshaft...
Who owns this pcb?.. to check this out for me..many many thanks.

Cheers MKL!!...that's all i needed to know..:D ...i thought my pcb may have had a slight fault...its all original with matching seriels etc & capcom eeprom stickers all intact...
Last nt it was a refreshing change from all the shooter over-indulgence i'm having at the mo...& i really enjoyed it...the speech is cool too.
Btw does the JPN pcb have any differences...removed items etc..?.

Strider Miscellany

- Speaking of the MD/Genesis version, as a kid I was grateful to get a home port of the game.
One thing that surprised me was that they added new music for the aerial battleship stage as well as the final stage.
The original arcade Striders I was used to playing repeated the first song in the game for stages 3 and 5.
Little did I know that there were arcade versions of the game that featured the "proper" stage-specific music, as heard in the MD version.
I say "proper" because these songs are actually featured in the official soundtrack for the game.
There was a guy on eBay selling "Sound Bug Fixed" versions of the game years ago.
I already had the PCB, so I bought the sound chips from him.
They never worked :(

- Capcom Collections Vol.2 on the PS2 and XBox both feature Strider, along with the aforementioned black pixel and non-bug-fixed music. I can't remember if the PSX version had fixed either of these things.

- The biggest difference I saw with the Japanese version (besides the title screen) is that Strider shouts "haw!" when swinging his cypher.
Incidentally, I am going to be selling my US Strider PCB, A Japanese Strider Hiryu PCB with some graphic errors, and A Japanese Strider Hiryu 2 PCB with artwork.
PM me if interested.

- I've always wanted to play the X68000 version, which supposedly features an extra level that takes place on a train.
Wonder if it's emulated.

?

So,
I'm confused.
Does the the X68000 have an extra level or only the PCE?
Sounds like we're better off without it though . . .

From what I understand they both have a unique extra level.
