Question about consolized MVS setups

I was just wondering if the newer mvs carts that sometimes don't work with phantoms will work on a consolized mvs.

I just got KOF 2k3 and I can't get it working on my phantom at all. I cleaned it and everything, it just won't work. Meanwhile, my SSV mvs cart works just fine on my phantom.

Consolized MVS are the same exact thing chip-wise as a MVS, the difference is that people put the supergun into the chassis itself. All superguns and consolizations do is act as extension cords and a way to tap into video/audio/player wires.

Depends.

Some of the older, large 1 slots have been known to have issues with the newer releases.

The small 1 slots and the multislots are 100% compatible.

I, too, have a question about consolized MVS': how do they work, exactly? Do they hook up to a TV like a PS2 would?

Sorry for hi-jacking this thread.

Yup.

Basically you take a MVS board of your choice (typically the smaller 1 slot, 2 or 4 slot boards), add in a RGB to NTSC encoder (which gives you you composite, s-video and/or component video) and a power supply. Mix in the necessary video/audio jacks, joystick ports if you need them and flavour the whole thing with a painted finish (optional).

Are you asking if MVS carts will work in an MVS board? That is a no-brainer of the highest order. Phantom-1 is irelevant here.

You might want to reread his post.

He is asking if all MVS boards will play all MVS carts, since The Phantom 1 isn't 100% compatible with all MVS games.

The answer is, no, not all MVS boards will play all the most recent titles. But I believe a Unibios can work around most of these issues.

Older, large 1 slots are known to be picky about these games. Newer, smaller 1 slots and all the multi slot baords should be 100% compatible, though.

Mostly it's the Playmore era of games that cause the problems.
