Okay so I had this cool idea to make a list of all Playmore games CONFIRMED to work on the phantom-1. There are several that don't and several that do, it sparks tons of threads asking "Does game x run on phantom-1?"

The King of Fighters 2001-WORKS, Options screen is scrambled
Metal Slug 4-WORKS
Rage of the Dragons-WORKS, sometimes prone to random resets
The King of Fighters 2002-WORKS
Matrimelee-WORKS
SNK vs Capcom: Chaos-DOES NOT WORK
Samurai Shodown 5-WORKS, scaling issues like the other SamShos
Pochi and Nyaa-WORKS.
Metal Slug 5-DOES NOT WORK
The King of Fighters 2003-WORKS, unreliable though, prone to crashing and menu glitches, still playable.

Did I miss any Playmore MVS games? I tried to do it all from memory and my memory sucks. I can only confirm RotD to work on a phantom-1 as it's the only Playmore game I have thus far.

Don't come in here to spam, i.e. "I think this game works on the Phantom-1". I'm looking for people that own the game on MVS and have tested or can test on a Phantom-1.

Thanks for your help, I feel this will do something constructive for the community (it's 0% drama). And a sticky from the mods would be cool if this gets a lot of feedback (which I hope it will).

I can confirm Matrimelee, SamSho 5 and KOF 2K2.

I had problems with sound (well, I had no sound) on Pochi & Nyaa, but I only used it once with the P-1 and I was too tired to try fixing the pb. But I had no gfx or resetting problems at all, so I think it was a contact thing.

Can't comment on the other games.

BTW, I have a rev. 5 mobo japanese AES with standard bios.

Thank you parodius! Your help is greatly appreciated.

Though it's troubling to see only one person has contributed so far, what ever happened to community effort? Seriously, a list of new releases that work and don't work on a Phantom-1 would definately be a great resource.

KOF 2K1 works fine, but the options screen is not displayed properly, it cannot be read.

ROTD works fine but, if my memory serves me well, it may reboot very randomly.

MS4 works flawlessly.

Concerning MS5 and SVC, they are confirmed not to work on the P-1. There's a sticky thread about MS5 and P-1 compatibility right above this one.
According to Razoola SNKP used a new anti-boot protection scheme in these games that prevents them from working correctly on the Phantom.
I remember reading that KOF 2K3 has the same issue, but I could be mistaken.

Thanks you two, now all we need is a definate confirmations on PaN, and confirmation on KoF2k3 though it'll probably not work like MS5 and SvCC.

EDIT: Can Tiptonium or JMKurtz please sticky this?

Matt,

This was a great idea!!!!! There are alot of members that have Phantom-1s that can benefit from this before spending their hard earned money.

Ironic, a good example of why the list should be stickied!! Should've read the list first young man!

considering the vast amount of AES systems out there, the possibility that a series might be able to get the game to work does exist...you read way too much into my question the original post was for a SPECIFIC user and their unit, giving a general guideline for reference.

Additional infomation;
1)The King of Fighters 2001-WORKS, Options screen is scrambled due to the P1 and P2 chips and not due to phantom-1.

SNKP is in a hurry to release it for the arcade that they had no time to fixed the options screen for AES(console) format.

Just program a new P1 and P2 roms for it and it will be fine. you can program only just P1 but the games hang randomly.
Thats one of the reasons P1 and P2 is in socket too

SNKP never thought people would play them via a phantom-1, not a official product for SNKP.
--------------
2)Pochi and Nyaa-works perfectly, there is no demo sound when
you play in AES(home) modes.
(AES mode already got credits but MVS mode need to insert coins/credits, MVS mode when no credits need demo sounds to attract customers)
Its not due to the phantom-1 either, its works perfectly.

Mostly likely taito/Aiky never intends to release a AES(home) release for it in the first place.

Hopes it helps.

Ok so that's why I had no sound on my unmodded AES...
That's a good thing to know. Thanks deffty !

List complete, thanks to those that helped out. I also have gotten the gist that systems without a debug or unibios will generally work better with a phantom-1 on SNKP titles.

What are these SS5 "scrolling issues" you speak of? On my console #147XXX and 2nd (old) version of the converter, it works just fine.

Some systems have issues with the background zooming in and out. You know, when you and your opponent are distant the background zooms out and on some systems the pixels distort. When the background is zoomed in (you and your opponent are close together) there aren't any distorted pixels. All Samurai Shodown games can have that problem, I have and used SamSho 1-3 on my Phantom-1 and they all did that. It's pretty much dependent on the system you play on.

Just a question does the MVS version of Kizuna Encounter works with the Phantom-1?

Thanks!

Ditto. Also what about Mark of the Wolves?MS3?AOF3?

I think this thread should be for every game instead of just Playmore releases.

No, it's common knowledge that all legit SNK-era MVS carts work on the latest revision (BLUE) phantom-1 (except for Dyna V-Liner but chances are you don't even know what that game is). The reason Playmore games have phantom-1 issues is because they released a new type of encryption on their chips and !Arcade! hasn't made a new revision to counter this, hence why this thread applies to Playmore releases ONLY. So to answer your questions, YES: Kizuna Encounter, MOTW, MS3, and AOF3 work on the Phantom-1.

Neo-weirdo: Shouldn't you be spamming News & Rumors with XBox news right now, or lying to people about sending payment? :smirk:

No need to be jerky about it. I wasn't born to know these things. I though MotW was double encrypted, so I wasn't quite sure. I'm just glad those games work.
