Hi Guys,
I have a 20" Neo Geo cab with 4 slot board.

So far with games I've had no problems until I bought new SNK vs CAPCOM SVC and
KOF'2003
both are brand new, but all I get is a 'grid' on screen and nothing else.

Have tried putting into different slots, cleaning the contacts etc....
any ideas.... otehr games work fine

PS, I think I have a unique Cab, apparently the model was a 'prototype' in Australia, I think I've only seen one other in Aus like it but nowhere else, including the Internet...

Cheers

since the games you bought are brand new most likely they have a film protecting the carts contacts.

You can wear down the contacts by inserting the cart a couple of times in the system or with some fine sand paper.

Will post pic of cabinet when back home from work....

I've been told that I have to reset internal memory of the 4-slot board to get these games working, how is this done??

Cheers

Switch on hard DIP one on the motherboard, the configuration screen should appear, navigate it til you find the option.

Thanks, could get in, but alas games still not working. Seems as though they're not even detected, tried even lightly sanding the carts pins...
Guess next step is to try in another cab??

Dont push the games in all the way. Pull them out slightly. I have to do this with my Last Blade cart.

Ok Guys.
Ended up taking my cart to someone I tracked down who has a one slot.
They worked 1st go, so must be something on my 4 slot.
One thing I've now tried was pulling the 2 boards apart to get to the battery.
I've measured the battery and has no voltage, I'l track a replacement down and post my findings.

If the problem is your back-up ram battery you can turn on all the dip switches to test the backup sram. If you do this and the battery is dead or your sram is bad, you will get a backup ram error eveytime you boot and not be able to play any games. If you have a universe bios, you can boot past this error and play games as normal, if not you cant play anything until you fix it.

Cheers,
Tried that and came up as 'Work Ram Test'
So i guess thats good
All games work 'cept for SNK vs CAPCOM SVC and KOF'2003... I've now soldered a replcement battery. With still the same problem.. Do I have to leave the machine on for a while for the batery to charge.

Yes unless it was already fully charged when you installed it. I have trouble with the battery running down if I don't use my MV-1A fairly often, but SVC chaos will still work on it. SVC chaos also works on my 4-slot which i believe to be of the oldest biggest varietal.

Ok, I've tried everything. Doesn't seem to be Battery issue or anything.
I've tried the games in a 1 slot and they work fine 1st go.
It seems to me at least the PLaymore games just don't want to work on a 4-slot board!!

At least not on this particular 4 slot. As I said above, these games work fine in my 4 slot.

I wonder if a newer BIOS or a universe bios would help. If you don't have a universe bios you should buy one anyway, because they are :buttrock: !!!

What Bios Chip do you have in the Mobo righ now..?

Is it US,Japanese etc..?

.......
Note:
My Candy Cab has the smaller version 4 Slot mother board with UNI BIOS Version 1.2..(old bios chip)

Certain games(new) will not work in it properly like SSV,Metal Slug 4,Metal Slug 5

If I want to play those games I have to put them in my bigger 4 version 4 slot mother board in the big red that has a US Bios chip.
Or: switch the motherboards around.
