Video Output Quality Question....HD

OK, so I have a HDTV and I have Digital cable with a box that supports HDTV. In order to get the HD signal you need either those proprietary cables of the Red Green and Blue. It even says HD output. Then there is a DVI output which I currently use. That fucking cable was over $100 and I am wondering…

Which of the following two formats described offers a better video signal? Just wondering?

It has to do with Video output and signal. A lot of the technical guys frequent this area and would offer proper insight. Maybe you could too? It is a related question as far as video output.

Wrong.

In no way does the Neo output HD signal. Through mods it can have component video out, by that ain't HD by any stretch of the imagination.

But to answer your question, the DVI should give you better quality as its all digital versus the analog component HD output.

Jesus Christ man you just like to argue…

!!!WRONG!!!!!! Felt good to type that huh? Does it make you feel like a big man? Does it? Hmmm? A little internet angst against people looking for info Hmmm? Are we fighting our battles on the internet? Hmmm? A little
Opinionated banter and quip’s on wrong assumptions?

Let me try.

Ummmmmm WRONG never did I mention that the Neo Geo outputs HD signal nor did I imply it. All I mentioned is that the technical gurus (obviously not you) frequent this area more and may be able to shed a little light on this output signal quality issue. There have been MILLIONS of threads on outputs and their quality on this site.

Check yourself broke, maybe you should buy the fixed album before you go further down the spiral  , and get over yourself.

SHOULD give me a better signal? What does SHOULD mean? I get conflicting info, SHOULD? Why? What reasons why? What physical and electrical properties does DVI offer over the other?

Two things:

-tech forum please

-I'm glad the rev won't get the HD when I read this kind of things.

Plug the Neo and play the damn game, perhaps it not 110% top quality picture but it still tons of fun.

Nothing to do with Neo Geo, but I am a vid quality nut, it has to be perfect. I started with a Big Red cab and MVS looks great with an arcade monitor. On a related note I am wondering if an AES with the Neo Bitz board and the Red Green and Blue Cables would match the video quality of an MVS and a Monitor.

My question was based on DVI output Vs. component, that’s all.

Neo doesnt output HD....so wrong again.

Your missing the point more then Ben Aflek in the Movie “Pearl Harbor”

I accept NOTHING!!!!!!! I know for a FACT HD is not on Neo Geo, in fact I am amazed that this mistake can be drawn. I believe you guys are too quick to argue and get off on this. You guys love typing wrong, I swear the attitude on this site is so negative IDK WHY I bother….

I know more about the NEO then the average nerd on this site. I am simply asking about DVI, not sure on that output, any real posts or more Nerd angst?

DVI, why it's better, what it does Vs. the Component.

BTW I played my Aes on composite for exactly one week before modding.

Mono sound? Crap picture? please.....

ahh sounds like you just got owned to me.
the NeoGeo will only go as far as SCART/RGB when it comes to quality.
dont think your going to get HD quality video from a NeoGeo.

if youre a Vid quality nut why are you asking this question for in the first place?

The POINT............................................................................. You are >HERE

MY QUESTION WAS ON HD OUTPUT OF MY DIGITAL CABLE BOX WITH DVI VS. COMPONENT!!!!!!! Jesus christ you can't be this dumb, tell me this is a joke.

Never did I mention Neo Geo Output HD, quality can CERTAINLY be improved through different forms, please.

I do not know too much on DVI, looking fo info is all.

Poor assumptions from a poor mind...."sigh"

I like to have my cake and eat it too. I like MVS quality graphics, I like Neo Geo Games, and I like MVS prices.

I love the SS series, 2 and 4 the most, I love MOTW, I love metal slug and one of the BIGGEST selling points of the neo was it's graphic's. Why not max them out with today’s technology?

But seriously, my original question before my train-of-thought got derailed.

DVI vs. Component on a HD box, which is better and why? Many venders state that Component is and the others say DVI. I am looking for technical data to support either one.

It was still the wrong forum to post in. End of story.
I'm not even sure tech is a suitable place.

how about you dont ask non-neo tech questions in a Neo Tech forum.
if your so worried about quality get a DIN to SCART cable for your Neo.

DVI is better because it is a digital cable vs. component which is analog and therefore needs to convert you digital signal from the box to the TV inducing a loss of quality in the picture.

To be perfectly fair the average human does not see much difference on a regular 42inch screen - but technically DVI is the best option of the 2.

... but this is in no way Neo related, had you posted your question in the "tech forum" or in "unrelated" you'd have had more positive answers from the beginning.

DVI is the better connection between the two as its all digital (as both Howdoin and myself have explained to you) compared to the analog output that is HD component. Its all relative to the quality of the output in both DVI and component mode of the equipment and the quality of the monitor. Its totally possible that you might very well not see any difference between the two. How about connecting it both ways and seeing for yourself?

Climb down off that high horse you are on and realize this didn't belong in the Neo Geo forum. Tech or unrelated would have been better suited.

Moved.

If it's a tech question, as you say, then it should be in the Tech Support forum. If you print out the word "Tech" from your post and the word "Tech" from a print of the front page with Tech Support on it, hold them on top of each other over a light bulb, you will notice they overlap completely. That is how you can tell where the post goes.
