I came across something today I've never seen before.

I was testing out my 6-Slot system with my KE MVS cart. At the end of the intro, the KE logo twirls into the title screen & a "flash" (the same one that starts the intro) slides across the screen one last time with the words "4WAY BATTLE VERSION"

Besides this extra text, the title screen background flashes from black to blue (I believe it's normally just solid black)

Also, during the demo play, "4WAY BATLLE VERSION" scrolls across the screen repeatedly, just underneath the life bars.

What is going on? Has anyone ever seen this before? My bios is set to "Home Console/AES" mode. Doesn't matter what language/region I put the cart to, it displays in English each & every time.

I am running the game on my Omega6 System with a Uni-Bios 1.2 installed.

Any info?

EDIT-

My KE AES C has NEVER done this in either mode (Home or Arcade) in any region (US/Euro/JPN) via the Uni-Bios, but the title does change to Japanese when in JPN mode.

And so surfaces another of the link-up carts (linking up 2 cabinets for 4P play). This was the original version of the game going by release dates as it actually preceeded the 2P version by a week in Japanese arcades. There were past threads, scans, location test reports, pictures, etc. all posted on this BBS. I probably still have some on my HDD. No idea what to say about English-only display. Hack job cart? Who knows, but it's not really useful unless you have 2 MVS systems, I would think 2 of those carts, and 4 people who know how to play the game.

Yes Kenny, we have seen this.
Thanks for alerting us to this though, as it is always good to do so just in case. But sadly there is nothing special about your cartridge. All the Kizuna cartridges have the 4 player programming. Just as do the Neo Bomberman cartridges, and perhaps some others as well.

It is interesting how the game displays in English regardless of the language setting in the bios, however this small phenomenon that you noted does not occurr in arcade mode. Nothing special though as other neo carts tend to have similar nuances and oddities when you mess with settings.

However Kenny I am a little bit disturbed in the manner in which you posted this "discovery". After being alerted of your post, I initially ran my own test using a six slot and the same six cartridges and low and behold I did not get the same results. It was only after running the same test with an additional added step that I was able to achieve your reported results. What disturbs me is that you failed to mention (more like opted to leave out) this significant detail in your post. And I know that you know what I am talking about. I won't mention it, unless asked to do so by the community later in this thread, but I will leave it in your hands to do so yourself before it comes to that. Reason being that one possible interrpretation of your post could lead to implications of purposefull misintentions.
:spock:
Sorry, I just cannot think of an easier way to say that.

Furthermore, while your on ice, and you leave me no choice but to pursue this yet again, I (WE) are still awaiting on your "delivery" from a previous significant thread? And seeing as you had time enough to take GREAT COLORFULL pictures of this small tidbit, then there would be ABSOLUTELY NO REASON why you would be unable to provide AT THE VERY LEAST the same documentation and proof of your other more significant tidbit!

YET AGAIN, the ball is in your court.
Put your money where your mouth is Kenny.
Show me the money, if it's even there, or come clean and tell us it's not.
I respect you EITHER WAY my friend. But you need to choose one.

Kizuna Encounter 4 player has always intrigued me.

Would you mind explaining what exactly needs to be done to accomplish this?

It's a Bios hack Charlie, actually it can be done with the Uni-Bios or Debug Bios, and the new Uni, if I am not mistaken, has it listed as a cheat in the menu. To enable the 4 player mode simply turn on debug dip 7 and 8 from bank 1 and enable devmode.

Correct.
And now that it has been stated as such, please tell me WHERE in Kenny's post does he state that he has done this "modification" in order to achive the results which he reported?

The answer is NOWHERE.
And there you have it. Draw your own conclusions from this.

Ouch.

Hey, I admit that saying stuff like "punked" and "owned" is funny and it's always good to make threads more entertaining through the use of humor BUT I do want to state for the record that my post is NOT intended to start a war with Kenny.

More importantly, I DO NOT want the thread to spin off topic and out of control discussing "he said/she said" and in essence providing ONCE AGAIN an "easy exit" for the INTENDED subject matter to be altered and forgotten. I am going to sleep now and if I wake up to 20 replies about stupid meaningless dribble it will make me very unhappy.

So for the record...

Kenny...forget about Kizuna. I couldn't care less what you may or may not have intended with your initial post. It's insignificant now. Rather PLEASE focus on the subject that you dodged in the last thread and simply give us what you got. And just so you know, this time, I WON'T let the thread die down and disappear like before. This simply will NOT go away, so PLEASE answer to it!

Many thanks and I apologize if I upset you.
Awaiting your reply and pics.

Billy,

Not sure where the first paragraph is going, but I explained everything to the best of my ability. I ran that KE cart (original/authentic copy) on my 6-Slot board with a Uni-Bios 1.2 installed. There was nothing I left out. I have a Shadow4 & a consolized 2-Slot here & they've never given me these results. Please fill me in on what you think it is that I am forgetting to mention......

Concerning the second paragraph, I assume you are talking about my IC cartridge? I just recently moved into my new house (ask BB, he's been looking for a scan of an artflyer/Ryan from JGN) & am in the process of unboxing my colllection. I will be giving attention to this matter as soon as I possibly can.

Thanks,
Kpj

Billy,

This is not a conspiricy. I know nothing abou the Soft DIPs, I never use them. I simply changed the region/mode settings at the start-up of the Uni-Bios screen. The actual mechanical DIPs on the 6-Slot board were all in the off position.

This post was made to clarify what was going on with my cart.

Thanks nruva for explaing the situation.

You fucking faggot.

Why do you even bother pestering me? You achieve nothing but make yourself look like a child.

I truly do not care what you have to say....truly. So why don't you quit while you're behind & play in the war room?

Thanks,

I've seen work ram corruption do odd things, it is possible that it is just a symptom of that. You can:

1) Flip up all hard dips to the on position
2) Turn on the machine and let it sit for a few seconds (displaying the work ram test screen)
3) Turn off the MVS
4) Reset all the hard dips
5) Turn the machine back on.

If it is the work ram causing it, that will clear it out. Other than that, I am not sure how a Kizuna cart would be tricked into thinking it was on the 4p setting.

i am interested in 4p kizuna, though. the game sucks otherwise and this would at least make it somewhat interesting.

N,

Thanks again for the info. Like previously stated, I have never used the soft DIPs, neither on the MVS platform or in the AES via Debug Bios/Uni-bios.

I haven't used this machine in almost a year, so it's been off since Jan/Feb of 2004. I did infact turn the unit off/on multiple times since it wasn't getting the correct voltage it need (just built a new PSU)

I'll try what you said & post the results when I get a chance.

Much appreciated,
Kpj

No, but I made this thread to address an issue I was having. It wasn't meant to be spun into drama/war.

All I ask is that you keep this thread clean/on the subject.

Thanks

Well since you fail to answer any questions in other threads, I will ask them now..

Can you show that MVS/AES board up close and working?

A lot of people want to see it.
